FREDERICKSBURG -- Dorothy Jean Hagen, 73, died her home in Fredericksburg on Tuesday, July 17, 2001.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Sparta, WI at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21.

Visitation was Thursday, July 19 from 4-8 p.m. at Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Jean was born March 29, 1928 in Sparta, WI, the daughter of Oscar and Myrtle (Nichols) Baumbach. She attended elementary school at St. John's Lutheran Church School in Sparta and graduated from  Sparta High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary; at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Jean married Robert G. on Sept. 28, 1947. They lived on a dairy farm near Waterville, IA. In 1994 she moved to Fredericksburg where she owned and operated Jean's Sweet Shop, retiring in 1999. Jean enjoyed baking and making decorated cakes, fishing and sailing, baseball and NASCAR racing.

Surviving are her children, Jeff (Kelly) Hagen, Howards Grove, WI, Ricki Lee (Nilsa) Hagen, Flowery Branch, GA, Cindy (Jim) Hobelsberger, LaCrescent, MN, Kristi Hagen, Fredericksburg; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Virginia (H.B.) Behrens, Kenosha, WI, Luella Steele, Sparta, WI, Eunice Rigg, Crystal Lake, IL; eight nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents.
