HAGEMAN, Cathrine nee SCHMITT 1900 - 2001ST. LUCAS —Catherine Hageman, 100, St. Lucas, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2001 at the New Hampton Care Center of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding. The pall will be placed by her five children. Lector for the funeral will be Bill Berka. Catherine's three daughters will present the offertory gifts. Visitation was 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at St. Luke's Chapel, St. Lucas, with a 4 p.m. Rosary, a 7 p.m. Scripture Service and a 7:30 p.m. Video Memorial Tribute. Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton is in charge of arrangements. Interment is in the church cemetery with Bob Hageman, Duane Wurzer, David Karik, Daryl Kruse, Rick Hageman and Randy Hageman as pallbearers. Catherine was born Dec. 12, 1900 in rural Fayette County near St. Lucas, the daughter of Jacob and Anna (Meyer) Schmitt. She attended school at St. Luke's in St. Lucas. On Nov. 16, 1921 she married Joseph B. Hageman at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Together the couple farmed southwest of St. Lucas where all their children were born and raised. In 1957, Joseph Hageman died. Catherine moved into St. Lucas in 1972 where she resided until 1991 at which time she became a resident of the New Hampton Care Center. Catherine was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and Rosary Society, and a 50-year member of the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed her flower garden, sewing and crocheting. Survivors include two sons, Florian (Irma) Hageman, Lawler and Joe (Gayle) Hageman, St. Lucas; three daughters, Sr. Joselda Hageman F.S.P. A., LaCrosse, WI, Bernice Karnik, Little Turkey and Rosemary (Phil) Kruse, Waucoma; 26 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; five great -great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Carl Wurzer, Lawler; two sisters-in-law, Marcella Schmitt, Waucoma and Margaret Schmitt, New Hampton. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Lorraine Wurzer; one grandson; a great-grandson; two sons-in-law, Arnold Barloon and Raymond Karnik; seven brothers, Peter, Theodore, William, Arnold, Louis, James and Edward Schmitt and two sisters, Elizabeth Boeding and Regina Hageman.
