HAAR, Arlan L. 1956 - 2001MASON CITY - Arlan L. Haar, 44, Mason City and formerly of New Hampton and Waverly, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at his home of an apparent heart attack. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with burial in the Harlington Cemetery,
Waverly. Visitation will be on j Wednesday, October 3 at 9:00 a.m. until services at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly. Arlan was born on October j 24, 1956, in Waverly, the son of Arnold and Donna (Bangs) Haar. He attended tne Waverly-Shell Rock School System, and following his education worked on area farms. In the early 1980’s he moved to New Hampton where he lived and worked until 1998 when he moved to Mason City. While in Mason City he did odd jobs and also helped at the local soup kitchen. Over the years Arlan had been involved, as both a participant and helper, with Special Olympics, Adults Incorporated and Comprehensive Systems. He loved to collect
nik-naks, and other peoples junk was always a treasure to him. He could find something useful from anything that had been discarded. He also loved to play cards, all kinds of card games and loved to play tricks on his family and frienas. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Arnold and Rose Haar, Waverly; two brothers, Gerald (Susan) Haar, Elma. Richard Haar, Waverly; three sisters, Linda (Robert) Haines, Belgium, JoAnn (Jerry) Lamfer, Britt, and Karen (Matt) Worple, New Hampton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his mother, Donna and one sister in infancy, Barbara Lynn Haar.
