GRIFFIN, Helen B. nee BIEKERT 1902 - 2001NEW HAMPTON - Helen B. Griffin, 99, died Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton of natural causes. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5 at the Congregational United Church of Christ, New Hampton with Reverend Mary Hatch officiating. Gerald Bailey will be the organist and will accompany Peter and Phyllis Willadsen singing “The Lord's Prayer" and “When You Pray". Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with Gary Griffin, Garth Griffin, Allen Griffin, Cody Griffin, Grant Griffin and Don Hereid serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Bob Hill, Bob White, Bud Scholl and Ralph Rausch. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton and also an hour prior to services at the church. Helen was born March 10, 1902 in Nashua, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Biekert. She attended school in the Nashua area. On July 18, 1923 she was united in marriage to Edward Griffin near Nashua. After their marriage the couple resided near Nashua and farmed in various areas of Chickasaw County all of their married lives. Helen moved to New Hampton in 1958 after the death of her husband, where she worked at Fliger's Bakery and Schueth Ace Hardware. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women's Fellowship there. Survivors include one son, Warren (Lois) Griffin, New Hampton; one daughter, Beverly Clancy, Longmont, CO; three grandsons; five great- grand children and one sister, ora Diesburg, Nashua. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Edward, in 1958; three sisters, Martha, Emma and Amelia and one brother, Oscar.
