GEBEL, Evelyn E. nee BROWN nee ROSAUER 1913 - 2001NEW HAMPTON - Evelyn Gebel, 87, died Thursday, May 3, 2001 at the Breckenridge Retirement. Center, Rocky Mount, NC of natural causes. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8 at Immaculate Conception Church, North Washington with Reverend John Hemann officiating. Jane Karels will be the organist and will accompany the Immaculate Conception Men's Choir singing "Be Not Afraid", "The Peace Prayer", "On Eagle's Wings", It's Not The First Mile", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "All Creatures Of Our God And King". Gerald Reicks will be the lector. Evelyn's children Donna King, Marge Rethamel and Dale Brown will place the pall. Gift bearers will be Gina king, Dawn Miller, Pam Brown and Tracy Heitz. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, North Washington with Duane Rethamel, Chad Gericke, Terry Heitz, Dan Miller, Mike Brown and Scott Gebel serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Donald Flick, Ray Tie-messen, John Pontenberg, Reynold Schwickerath, Greg Hilsman and Francis Deutsch. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 7 at Conway Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service. Evelyn Elizabeth Rosauer was born Sept. 8, 1913 in Eagle Center, the daughter of Leonard Joseph and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Rosauer. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, Eagle Center. After her graduation she went to work for Northwestern Bell, Waterloo. She was united in marriage to Francis V. Brown on Oct. 8,1940 in Eagle Center. The couple resided in Waterloo and had six children. Francis died on July 12, 1953. After Francis' death she went back to work at Northwestern Bell. She then met and married Ralph Gebel in 1960. After their marriage the couple farmed near New Hampton. Ralph died Dec. 8, 1997 and Evelyn moved to New Hampton. She moved to North Carolina in September of 2000 with her daughter Marge. Survivors include two daughters, Donna King, North Platte, NE and Marge Rethamel, Nashville, NC; one son, Dale (Peg) Brown, Conrad; two step-daughters, Marlys (John) Zimmer, Fredericksburg and Pat (Mike) Shalks, Grant Park, IL; one step-son, Ed Gebel, New Hampton; one daughter-in-law, Pat Brown, Waterloo; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Earlene)- Rosauer, LaPorte City and Gene (Margaret) Rosauer, Dysart. Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands, Francis V. Brown and Ralph Gebel; three sons, Richard, James and Gayle Brown; four sisters, ArdeJIa Christopher, Magdeline Christopher, Margaret Eastman and one in infancy.
