FOX, Leonard R. 1915 - 2001Services held for Leonard Fox, 85 Leonard R. Fox, 85, of St. Ansgar, Iowa died on Thursday, April 5, 2001, after a brief stay at the Riceville Community Rest Home. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 11,2001 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. Edward Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery with military rites conducted by Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of the American Legion, St. Ansgar. Leonard was born on October 31, 1915 in Meltonvale, Kansas to Raymond and Pearl (Ivey) Fox. He moved to the St. Ansgar area with his family as a small child. As a young man he worked for various area farmers. After joining the U.S. Army in 1942, he participated in training maneuvers in various U.S. locations. On April 29, 1943 he married Evelyn Rosenberg. Leonard was then sent to serve in World War II with the 90th Division. He participated in a number cf campaigns including the Normandy Invasion. He received a number of decorations and citations, including the Bronze Star for meritorious duty. After being honorably discharged from the service in 1945, he and his wife settled in St. Ansgar where he began a 35 year career with Cedar Valley Electric and retired in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold Fox; and one sister, Blance Griga. Leonard is survived by his wife Evelyn of St. Ansgar; three daughters, Sandra (Dale) Lubbert of Riceville, Iowa, Judy Fox of Mason City, Iowa, Kathryn (Marlin) Bexley of Sorrento, Flor.; one son Dean (Robyn) of St. Charles, Minn.; one brother, Edgar (Evelyn) Fox of St. Ansgar; one sister, Luella Slaichert of St. Ansgar; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar was in charge of arrangements.
