EVERSON, Cordula "Corky" K. nee WORKMAN nee SCHLICHTE 1920 - 2001ST. LUCAS — Cordula "Corky" Katherine Everson, 80, St. Lucas, died Monday, March 12, 2001 at her home of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with Rev. Marvin Salz as celebrant. The pall was placed on the casket by her daughters. Lorraine Kuennen was organist, accompanying the St. Luke's Adult Choir. Offertory gifts were presented by Megan and Michael Schwarz. Interment was in St. Luke’s Cemetery with Lee Stamraeyer, Dennis Boyer, John Kuehner, Michael Schwartz, Jim Perry and Mark Mihm as pallbearers. Visitation was held at the church an hour prior to services. Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, was in charge of arrangements. Cordula was born in Auburn Township, Fayette County, Iowa on June 23, 1920, the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Perry) Schlichte. She attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. In 1937 she married Raymond M. Workman. They were later divorced. Corky returned to St. Lucas in the late 1960s to care for her parents and she worked at the White House Restaurant for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Corky Especially enjoyed summertime and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also traveling and all kinds of animals. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Evelyn Kennedy, Barrington, IL and Carol Jean-(Frank) Brand, Crystal River, FL; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Gornell1, Bethlehem, PA; one niece. Preceding her in death were her parents and a grandson, Gary Sanford in 1982.
