CONWAY, Donald Francis 1921 - 2001LE SUEUR, MN~ Donald Francis Conway, 79, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at his home. Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home, Emmetsburg. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, LeSueur, MN. Inurnment will follow services at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. Don was born Aug. 7,1921 in Craettinger, the son of Elizabeth (DeLawyer) and John E. Conway. He received his education in Graettinger and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He served on the destroyer U.S.S. Wells in the South Pacific and the Aleutian Islands until his discharge in 1946. He married Shirley A. Korlaske Nov. 22, 1948 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Emmetsburg. Don worked in the feed and poultry industry in southern Minnesota until his retirement in 1990. He lived with his wife Shirley in Emmetsburg, New Hampton, Blue Earth, MN, Superior, WI, Owatonna, MN, Faribault, MN and LeSueur, MN. Don participated in activities at St. Anne's Church, liked woodworking, fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, dancing and sharing stories and jokes. He had been a member of the American Legion for 34 years. * Survivors include three children, Trudy (Robert) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD, William (Laurie Sargent) Conway, Hop-kinton, NH and Jane (Vernon) Alberts, Homer, AK; two grandchildren; four sisters, Loretta Lembke, Florence Patton, Madge (Ted) Nock and Annette Stokes and one brother, Harold (Erlene) Conway. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Shirley, on March 27, 2001 and brothers, Leland and Richard Conway.
