BUCHHOLZ, Edwin R. 1916 - 2001TRIPOLI -- Edwin Buchholz, 84, died Saturday, April 21, 2001 at the Bartels Home, Waverly following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25 at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel, rural Waverly with Rev. Eugene Walther ana Rev. Keith Tomlinson presiding. Music for the service will be provided by Edna Drape as organist accompanying the congregation singing V/Abide With Me9' #284 and David Drape as vocalist singing "Twenty-third Psalm" ana "In The Garden". Interment will be in the Church Cemetery, rural Waverly. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday., April 24 at Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Edwin Rudolph Heinrich Buchholz was born June 25,1916 in Douglas Township of rural Bremer County, the son of Albert and Anna (Krienke) Buchholz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel. He received his education at Douglas Township #5 School. On Feb. 7, 1939, he was united in marriage with Irma Buhr at St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel. The couple farmed for many years on tne Buchholz family farm in Douglas Township and continued to make their home there after retirement in the 80's. Edwin also was a PAG seed corn dealer, an Archer Oil Co. dealer and measured land for the ASC program. Edwin entered the Bartels Home, Waverly in Dec., 2000. He was a lifelong active member of St. John's United Church of Christ-Siegel. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards anc1 visiting with family and friends. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Joyce) Buchholz, rural Traer and Roger (Betty) Buchholz, Elkader; one daughter, Mary Ann Howe, New Hampton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Aimed (Mary) Buchholz, Cedar Rapids and one sister, Eldora Bahlmann, Waterloo. Preceding him in death were his wife, Irma, in 1995; his parents and one sister, Leona Buhrow.
