BOYER, Raymond J. 1921 - 2001ST. LUCAS — Raymond J. Boyer, 79, St. Lucas, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in West Union following a lengthy illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding. Dennis Boyer was lector. Organist Kathy Meyer accompanied the St. Luke’s Choir. Interment was in St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery, St. Lucas, with Sara Boyer, Josh Boyer, Brian Rausch, Robert Trevino, Dennis Boyer Jr. and Marvin Krivachek serving as casket bearers. Raymond John Boyer was born May 6, 1921 in St. Lucas, the son of Adam and Margaret (Ott) Boyer. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. Ray worked as a farmhand near St. Lucas and then at Rath Packing Plant in Waterloo. He then owned his own truck and hauled cream to St. Lucas and butter to Dubuque. Ray operated the meat market in St. Lucas for a few years and then was the maintenance engineer at St. Luke's Catholic Church in St. Lucas for several years. On Oct. 11, 1948, Ray married Evelyn Krivachek at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. As a hobby, Ray raised chickens, ducks and turkeys. He enjoyed watching his children race cars, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, fishing, coon and deer hunting. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Boyer, St. Lucas; one daughter, Carol (Robert) Trevino, Spillville; two sons, Jerome (Lya) Boyer, Calmar, Rodney (Brenda) Boyer, St. Lucas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene Boyer and Dennis (Maxine) Boyer, both of St. Lucas; three sisters, Sister Margaret Boyer OSF, LaCrosse, WI, Flavia (Norbert) Lechtenberg, Festina, Arlene Boyer, Worthington. Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandson, Adam Boyer; three brothers, Leonard, Andrew and Larry Boyer. Chekal Funeral Home, Fort Atkinson, was in charge of arrangements.
