BODENSTEINER, Raymond B. 1917 - 2001FORT ATKINSON -Raymond Bernard Bodensteiner, passed away November 21, 2001 at the Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. November 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma. The lector was Mark Bodensteiner and gift-bearers were Sheryl Bodensteiner, Megan Weidenbach and Andrea Weidenbach. Interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery in Waucoma with Steve Bodensteiner, Luke Bodensteiner, Nathan Bodensteiner, Jon Bodensteiner, Adam Bodensteiner, Bert Bodensteiner, Karl Bodensteiner, and Matthew Bodensteiner serving as pallbearers. Visitation was held Friday, November 23 with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m scripture service. Raymond, son of Carl and Johanna (Rausch) Bodensteiner, was born May 17, 1917 at St. Lucas. On April 23, 1940 he was united in marriage to Alvina Schmitt at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma. Ray farmed most of his life in the Waucoma area. Education was.very important to Ray and he served on the Turkey Valley School Board at the time of their organization in the early 1960's. He was very active in many organizations and also in his church and served on many boards of these organizations. Ray loved to travel and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Alvina, 4 sons, Marl (Judy), Seattle, WA, Dr. Rober (Mary Kay), West Bend, WI Don (Pat) and Tom (Mary) Rapid City, SD; 1 daughter. Mary (Cal) Weidenbach, Rapid City, SD; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Leo, St. Lucas; 4 sisters, Helen Nienhaus, Ossian, Irene Holthaus, Decorah, Fredia Mihm, St. Lucas, and Irma Schuler, Austin, TX and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a son, Carl in 1979; his parents; 3 brothers, Albert, Irvin and Richard; and a sister, Alma Koch.
