George V. Wilcox, 57Services were held Tuesday Feb. 1, 2000, for George V. Wilcox, 57, LeRoy resident who died Sunday morning at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis where he had been a patient for 10 days. Rev. Tom Kolden officiated at the 1 p.m. services. Interment was in LeRoy Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Wilcox was born March 18, 1942 in rural Mitchell County Iowa, son of Carl and Marie (Reich) Wilcox. He attended LeRoy school, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Kenneth D. Bailey which was deployed to Cuba during the missile crisis. After his time in the service he was employed by the Oliver Corp., Charles City, Iowa, and John Deere and Co., Waterloo, Iowa. He later went to work for M&O Paper at International Falls, Minn., and then for the past several years has been self-employed working on small engines and repair work,. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical and was always there when anybody needed help. Survivors include his mother, Marie, LeRoy; three sisters, June (Mrs. Larry "Joe" Gansen) of Hampton, Iowa; Janet (Mrs. Gerald Haagenson), Mabel, Minn., and Linda (Mrs. Tom Walker), Lake City! Minn.; five brothers, Robert (Lillian), Alta Vista, Iowa; Dale, Clea( Lake, Iowa; Leon (Robin), Browndale, Minn.; Russell, LeRoy and] Thomas (Lisa), LeRoy. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl, and an infant sister. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home, LeRoy, was in charge of arrangements.
