LAWLER - Gerald J. Timlin, 58, Iowa City and formerly of Lawler, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler with Rev. Marvin Salz presiding. Verda Mikota will be organist and Colleen Busta will be vocalist. Lector will be Joe Scally.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Mike Timlin, Steve Timlin, Kevin Timlin, Dan Timlin, Ryan Timlin and Tom Lynch as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Don Benz, Tom McGowan, John Scally, Jack Blazek, Gerald Lensing and Orlo Njus.

Visitation was 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home in Lawler, with a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service, a 7:30 p.m. Memorial Tribute and also an hour prior to services at the church.

Jerry was born Nov. 27, 1941 in Sioux City, the son of Eugene and Jean Timlin. He graduated from Lawler High School in 1959 and attended Loras College and Upper Iowa University. He served in the National Guard. Jerry married Gerie Kuennen in November1963 in Lawler; they were later divorced. He lived in Dubuque, East Dubuque and Galesburg, IL. For the last 15 years Jerry was employed at Mid Iowa Equipment in Coralville.

Surviving are one daughter, Kim (Pat) Lensing, Lawler; one son, Curt (Michele) Timlin, Platteville, WI; four granddaughters; his mother, Jean Timlin, Lawler; four brothers, George (Anne) Timlin, South Bend, IN, Greg (Mary) Timlin, Iowa City, Mark (Kathy) Timlin, Lawler, Paul Timlin, Cedar Rapids; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death was his father.
