Hope Katheen (Brooks) Stahr, 81WEST UNION - Hope Katheen (Brooks) Stahr, 81, died on Wednesday, March 8 at Maple Crest Manor. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at Victory Christian Church in West Union. Rev. Roland Waterman officiated. Pianist was Yvonne Lienan and vocalists Thalia Cutsforth and Steve Hucke sang "Amazing Grace”, "Wind Beneath My Wings”, "How Great Thou Art" and m the Garden". Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in West Union with Peter Schnuelle, Tony Cutsforth, Lawrence Stahr, Tim Stahr, Brett Stahr, Wade Stahr, Doug Stahr and Ian Stahr serving as pallbearers. Hope Kathleen (Brooks) Stahr was born June 15,1918 at Prairie du Chien, WI, the daughter of Samuel and Cora tended West Union Schools. Hope married Lawrence "Pete" Stahr on June 15, 1935. The lived in Clermont for a short time and later moved to West Union. To this union were born ten children. Hope was a homemaker and also was employed at Prairie View Care Center for about ten years. Hope entered the Maple Crest Manor in Fayette on Jan. 1,1997 following a stroke. Survivors include seven sons, Larry, West Union, Tom (Janet), Hawkeye, Rodney, Rockford, IL, Steve (Pam), Elkader and Mark (Jacque), Hawkeye; two daughters, Judy (Allan) Schnuelle, Castalia and Laurie (Ben) Cutsforth, Waucoma; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren: one brother.
