Penny Lynn Speer, 38Penny Lynn Speer, 38, died on Friday, April 14, 2000 at her residence in Waterloo of natural causes. Penny was born on September 16, 1961 in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Donale Eugene and Gloria (Hansen) Speer. She graduated from Janesville Consolidated Schools in 1981 and also attended cos-motology school. She worked as cosmotologist for Head Hunters Salon in Cedar Falls, and also worked as a CNA for several health care centers in the Black Hawk and Bremer County area. Penny also worked for the Pinal County Sheriff Department in Arizona. She was a former member of the Waterloo Eagles Club Auxiliary, she also attended the Kimball Avenue United Methodist church in Waterloo. Penny enjoyed bicycling, hiking, swimming and being outdoors. Penny is survived by her mother, Gloria R., and husband Eugene Russell of Cedar Falls, three sisters: Pam Zolliecoffer of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis Cooper of Cedar Rapids, and Lori and husband Bryan Voyek of Janesville. One brother, Michael M. and wife Brenda Speer of Waverly, and four step-brothers: Randy and wife Pam Russell of Waverly, Ronnie and wife Lisa Russell of Aplington, Rod and wife Tina Russell of Manley, and Roger and wife Darcy Russell of Waverly. One maternal grandmother, Viola Hansen, of Riceville and 23 nieces and nephews. Penny is preceded in death by her father, maternal grandfather, paternal grandparents and.one niece. Funeral services were at the Barr Funeral Home in Cedar Falls on Tuesday, April 18, 2000 with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
