Earl Ray Parrish was born May 14, 1914, near Rosalie, Neb. to George and Cora Alice (Ray) Parrish. He attended rural school near his home. He farmed, ran a corn sheller and served in the Army during WW II.

On March 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to Edith Gillespie. The farmed near Dakota City, Neb. for .three years. They moved to Iowa where they farmed for 15 years and in 1966 they moved to Hartley, Iowa and he worked on road construction and later at an elevator, retiring in 1979.

Earl was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hartley and was active in the men’s meetings. He was a member of the Arthur W. Kirchoff Post #288 American Legion Post of Hartley, and bowled for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Edith of Hartley, two sons: Dean and his wife, Glenda of Cherokee, Iowa, Eric and his wife Cindy of Spencer, Iowa; a daughter, Reva and her husband, Allen Harris of Riceville; nine grandchildren: Kevin, Lisa and Jason Harris, Dominic, Katherine, Brian, Christina, Rebecca and Megan Parrish; three brothers, Cecil and his wife, Helen of Whiting, Iowa, Rolland and his wife, Vivian of Omaha, Neb., Lawrence of Sargeant Bluff, Iowa; four sisters: Opal Roberts and Mable Kobemus of Sioux City, Iowa, and Bessie Nelson and Emma and her husband, Daryl Bagley of South Sioux City, Neb; a sister-in-law, Velma Parrish of Correctionville, Iowa; many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ellen Parrish and Iva Teeters and one brother, Elzy.
