Elaine Susan Oettchen of Elma, age 39, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, Iowa, on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000 due to a heart attack and stroke.

Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Lutheran Chu,rch in Riceville, Iowa on Monday, Nov. 27, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Parris officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Riceville. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Elaine was bom on Sept. 11, 1962 to Robert and Irene Lovik Oettchen in Mason City, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Ventura, Iowa. In 1971 she moved with her parents to Riceville where she continued her education. After completing her education, Elaine worked as a homemaker and housekeeper in the area.

She is survived by her mother, Irene Peterson Of Riceville; two brothers, Russell Oettchen of Riceville and Verlyn Oettchen of Chester, Iowa. Also surviving are two nephews, Brandon and Avery Oettchen of Chester and a special friend, Dean Klimish of Elma.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1972 and her stepfather, Carl Peterson, in 1992.
