Doris Steil Edgar Morasch, 73Doris Steil Edgar Morasch, 73, of Riceville, lost a courageous battle with cancer Sunday, June 11, 2000, at the Riceville Community Rest Home. Funeral services will be held at the Old Stone United Methodist Church in Rock Falls, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 15. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Deborah Stowers and Pastor Richard Boatman. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery. Doris was born November 23, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn., and was the daughter of Vern J. and Hazel G. Anderson Steil. She attended the Rock Falls Community School. She married David E. Edgar March 4, 1947 in Albert Lea, Minn. Doris spent most of her early adult life in Rock Falls raising their four children. In 1963 she and David purchased the Rock Falls Grocery Store, which they ran together for five years. Doris then began her career in women's retail at Lundberg's Clothiers in Mason City. She also worked at Buttrey's (later known as Maurice's), also in Mason City. Doris was an active member of the Old Stone United Methodist Church. David passed away February 1, 1973. She married Donald Morasch August 12, 1978, in Riceville. Doris, while retired, was very active in Riceville, teaching adult education courses through the school, volunteering at the Riceville Rest Home and was a member of the Congregational Church. Doris enjoyed baking for the holidays, decorating their house for every celebration and holiday and having friends and family stop by. She is survived by her husband, Donald Morasch of Riceville; her four children, Bonnie (Bruce) Jennings of Longmont, Colo., Harold (Phyllis) Edgar of Rock Falls, Michael (Robin) Edgar of Mason City, and Jackie (David) Person of Skowhegan, Maine; a step-daughter, Debbie (Bruce) Hendrickson of Rochester, Minn.; a step-son, Steven (Mary Jo) Morasch of Sleepy Eye, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Jeff Legler and Dolli Jo Bollschweiler of Longmont, Colo., Lori (Jerry) Schade of Garner, Danielle Edgar of Rock Falls, Jaime Edgar and Erica Edgar, both of Mason City, Maggie and Emily Sieleman of Skowhegan, Maine; five great-grandchildren, Courtney Legler, Lindsay Legler and Nathan Bollschweiler, all of Longmont, Colo., Brandon Schade and Lindsay Schade, both of Gamer; one great-great-granddaughter, Shiirah Jennings; and four step-grandchildren, Heather Hendrickson of Rochester, Minn.,and Amy, Ryan and Lindsey Morasch of Sleepy Eye, Minn. Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
