Grace Meyering, 86Services were held Monday, April 3, 2000 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, Iowa, for Grace Meyering, 86, who died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, lowi Interment was at Olena Mound Cemetery, Buffalo Center. She was born March 19, 1914 near Buffalo Center, daughter of Everett and Bena (Burma) Wessels. Her grandparents John and Gretje Wessels immigrated to the U.S. from Bellingwolde, Holland. Upon the death of her mother, she was raised by her grandparents. Her brother John and sister Pearl were raised by other relatives. She married Heiko Meyering at Buffalo Center Feb. 17, 1937, and the couple had seven children. She spent her years on the farm until the couple retired in 1972 and moved to Buffalo Center. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, fishing and traveling, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Literary Club, Grace Circle and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Survivors include her seven children Jjame^ and Karen Meyering, Woden, Iowa; Jeriene and Gary Sleper, Titonka, Iowa; Russell and Thelma Meyering, Woden, Iowa; Leroy and Ruth Meyering, Bloomington, Minn; Henry and Janet Meyering, Garner, Iowa; Marsha and Dan Saybolt, Miami, Fla., and Elaine and Dale Price, Lakota, Iowa. Also 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Wessels, Mason City, and a half sister, Mae Sheldon, Pequot Lakes, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, John; two half-brothers, Everett Jr., and Suite; half-sister, Lena Wessels; step-sister, Paulina Waldo, and two grandchildren, Sandra Sleper and Brandon Price.
