Margaret Elizabeth McGrath, 89Margaret Elizabeth McGrath, 89, of Austin died Friday, July 28, 2000 at St. Cloud Hospital in St.Cloud, Minn. She was born December 8, 1910 in Riceville, Iowa to Thomas and Jessie (Famham) Walker. Margaret graduated from Riceville High School and then graduated with a teaching degree from the University of Minnesota. She first taught school in Clarion, Iowa where she met John David McGrath. They were married on July 27, 1940 in Riceville, Iowa. She had taught grade school students for many years. Margaret enjoyed playing cards and was involved in bridge clubs. She had traveled extensively and had supported a number of needy children overseas. She volunteered her time for Meals on Wheels and often enjoyed the stitch and bitch club. Funeral services were Monday, July 31, 2000 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. James C. Peck Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Margaret is survived by two sons: Thomas A. and wife Helen M. McGrath, Shoreview, Minn., and John M. and wife Helen D. McGrath, Comstock, Wise.; one daughter: Mary M. and husband Ronnie Ullom, LeRoy, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; sister: Jessie and Bernard Eyestone, Riceville; brother: Douglas and Esther Walker, Emily, Minn.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brothers: Thomas G. Walker, Donald Walker and Robert Walker.
