Marjorie Marie Matthiesen, 68Services were held Monday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kasson for Marjorie Marie Matthiesen, 68, who was pronounced dead at the scene when her car slid into a ditch last Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, 2000, at the 5500 block of U.S. 63 south in Olmsted County. Mrs. Matthiesen apparently had a heart attack while driving. The body was cremated. A family memorial service will be held in the Lutheran Cemetery at LeRoy. She was born Maijorie Marie Aulwes Dec. 22, 1931 and grew up in the Austin and LeRoy areas. She married Charles Papenfus and they later divorced. Feb. 16, 1968 she married David Matthiesen and the couple made their home in Dodge Center and later Mantorville. He is employed by McNeilus Trucking and Manufacturing. Mrs. Matthiesen was well known for her flower arrangements, crafts and ceramics. Through the years, she owned and operated several businesses, most recently the Log Cabin Ceramics in Mantorville. In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Rocky Papenfus of Mantorville; Ric and Deb Papenfus, Dodge Center, and Ron Papenfus, Kasson; four daughters, Laurie and Bob Reynolds of Eagan, Minn.; Linda and Keith Cooper of Dodge Center; Judy and Angelo Kloussis, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and Jenny and Bobby Culver, Eyota, Minn. Also 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Knutson, Bloomington, Minn., and "Sal" and Gene Hannam of LeRoy; and a brother, Bill and Mary Lou Aulwes of Chugiak, Alaska. A grandson preceded her in death. Dibble Funeral Home, KaSson, was in charge of arrangements.
