Joan Marie May Marley, 57Joan Marie May Marley, 4ge 57, of Riceville, Iowa, died; Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at her home. Joan was born July 20. 1942| in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Mary Helen'!! (Graham) May. The family moved to Austin, Minn, where her father was an auto mechanic. Joan lost her father to an auto accident in . 1954 and her mother to cancer in 1957. She then moved in with a foster family, Pete and Lucille Kloberdanz. She graduated from Pacelli High School in 1960. Joan attended cosmetology school and was a beautician for two years. She then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital until she met her future husband. On September 14, 1963 she married Dave Marley. The couple lived on a farm in the Riceville area. Joan kept busy working at the Riceville School, cooking hot lunch and cleaning the First Stat$ Bank in Riceville. Joan was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven.. She enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband. Dave; her sons, James, his wife Cathy and son David of Riceville; Joe, his wife Sharon and son Sam of Koyukuk, Alaska, Jerry, his wife, Kari and daughter Kyla of Baraboo, Wis., John, his wife Karla and son Jack of. Trempealeau, Wis., Jay and his fiance Julie and daughters McKenzy ‘ and Avery of Osage; and her daughter Sara and her husband Jeff Grimm and children Rachel and Benjamin of Osage; a foster daughter, Deb, and her husband Gale Prescott and children, Dawn, Joe apd. Karen, of Adams, Minn.; three great-grandchildren; her foster mother, Lucille Kloberdanz of Austin, Minn.; and four foster sisterS: Gayle Carey of Austin, Minn., Carol Erickson of Longmont, Col.. Pat B urton of Waterville, Minn., and Lori McEdwards of Brandon. Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her foster father, Pete Kloberdanz, and an infant son. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, 2000 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John Moser presided. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
