Kenneth D. Lindhorst, 78IONIA — Kenneth D. Lindhorst, 78, a longtime resident of the Ionia area, died Sunday, July 30 at North Iowa Mercy Health (Renter in Mason City Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday; Aug. 2 at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in Algona with Rev. David McBride officiating. Organist and soloist was Helena Dodds. Hymn selections included "In The Garden", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Interment was in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona, with Arlen Lindhorst, Tim Lindhorst, Paul Anderson, Melvin Allison, Jerry Meyer and Jim Ewoldt as casket bearers. Kenneth Dean Lindhorst was born Oct. 22, 1921 at Algona, the son of Rufus Mansiel and Myrtle Daisy (Bell) Lindhorst. He attended Titonka Schools and after his schooling, farmed in the Algona and Ioma areas until his retirement in 1984. Kenneth married Betty Jean Wilden on June 29,1947 at Algona. He enjoyed farming, fishing, driving tractor and listening to country music. He was a member of the Ionia United Church of Christ for 46 ears and also a member of the Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife, Befty Jean Lindhorst, Charles City; two daughters, Sherry (Leon) Wait, Nashua, Joleen Lindhorst, Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters; five brothers and sisters, Margaret Ewoldt, Maxine (Francis) Platt, Jim (Janice) Lindhorst, all of Algona, Bill (Arlene) Lindhorst, Iowa City, Vida Mae Roth, Kansas City, MO. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son; a brother-in-law, Oscar Roth.
