Larry J. Leichtman, 57GARNER — Larry J. Leichtman, 57, died Friday, Jan. 28 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at ST. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Father John W. Hemann as celebrant. Lector was Tom Kozisek. Music was provided by Carolyn Kumsher, organist, who accompanied the churcn choir and Ed Crawford, soloist. Ushers were Robert Krai and Lawrence Engstler. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Hampton. Honorary bearers were Carol Crawford and Ron Leichtman. Casket bearers were Tony Crawford, Cory Crawford, Mark Leichtman, John Leichtman, Chris Kuehner and Jason Kuehner. Visitation was held Monday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner. Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Leichtman, the son of Lloyd Merlin and Marie (Schueller) Leichtman, was born April 16, 1942 at New Hampton, the eldest of three children. He graduated from New Hampton High School in 1960 and then worked as an assistant manager at Liddle's SuperValu in New Hampton until 1981. On June 29, 1968 he married Patricia Lynn Peterson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton. Two sons, Scott and Eric were bom to this marriage. In 1981 the family moved to Garner where Larry owned and operated Larry's Supervalu. Due to health problems, they closed the store in 1989. Larry worked at True Valu and was currently employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. Larry was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where he was on the Parish Council for 12 years, the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Garner Rotary Club and Garner Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Pat Leichtman, Garner; two sons, Scott Leichtman and Eric Leichtman, both of Garner; his mother, Marie Leichtman, New Hampton; a brother, Ron (Faye) Leichtman, New Hampton; and a sister, Carol (Edward) Crawford, New Hampton. Preceding him in death was his father, Lloyd Leichtman, on Sept. 8, 1999.
