Merle F. Lamon, 85Services were held Monday, April 17 in First Presbyterian Church, LeRoy, for Merle F. Lamon, 85, who died Friday, April 14, 2000 at the Austin Medical Center. He had been a resident in Adams Health Care Center for the past few weeks recuperating from heart surgery. The Rev. Steve Elderbrock officiated at the 1 p.m. services. Interment was in the LeRoy Cemetery. Mr. Lamon was born Oct. 29, 1914 in LeRoy, son of Joseph and ^Elizabeth "Libby" Partlow Lamon. He attended and graduated from ; LeRoy High School. He was united in marriage to Pearl Wolthoff at Grundy Center, Iowa, Sept. 3, 1939, and the couple had two children. He worked for Interstate Power Company for 35 years. He enjoyed gardening and camping and was an avid hunter and fisherman. A LeRoy native, he was also very knowledgeable about the history of the community. Survivors include his wife, Pearl, LeRoy; son, Terry (Jan) Lamon, Las Vegas, Nevada, and a daughter, Sharon (Dan) Regan, Wayzata, KMinn. Also four grandchildren, Nicole and husband Tom; Megan, Erin and Christopher, and one sister, Esther Klassy, Adams, Minn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Donald Klassy, Robert Klassy, Harold Lamon, Richard Lamon, Arnet Moe and Dean Thompson. Organist was Alice Kempe. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
