Julius Carl FranzenWAUCOMA - Julius Carl Franzen, 70, rural Waucoma, died Monday morning, May 8 at his home of natural causes. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, St. Lucas, with Rev. Msgr. Leander Reicks presiding and Rev. Msgr. Donald Heineman, Fort Atkinson, con-celebrating. Interment was in St. Luke's Cemetery with Dean Franzen, Rick Holthaus, Ron Holthaus, Greg Mahr, Joyce Mahr and Linda DeSloover as pallbearers. _ Visitation was after 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at St. Luke's Chapel, St. Lucas, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7:30 p.m. Parish Scripture Service. Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Julius was born March 28, 1930 in rural Waucoma, the son of Edward J. and Rose (Smith) Franzen. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. He lived and farmed his entire life on the family farm until he retired in 1997. Julius was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church. Survivors include four brothers, Norbert Franzen, Delbert (Peggy) Franzen and Donald Franzen, all of Waucoma, Linus (Anna) Franzen, Lawler; one sister, Emma Franzen, Charles City. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Lenora Hackman, Agnes Pelikian and Luella Holthaus; two brothers, Matthew Franzen and Mathias Franzen in infancy.
