Douglas Brandmill, 28Douglas Dinsmore Brandmill, 28, of Iowa City died Saturday, Nov. 4, of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident on Highway j 218 in Iowa City. Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Elma Methodist Church in Elma, Iowa. Douglas was born June 29, 1972 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Jack Dinsmore Brandmill and Patricia E. Hoagland Hughes. He was raised in Cedar Rapids, where he attended Regis High School and was a 1991 graduate of Washington High School. He attended Kirkwood College with an emphasis in music. Douglas had worked at The Wood Shed Corp. in Marion. He moved to Arizona in 1998 and returned to Iowa in 1999. At the time of his death he was an employee as a data processor for MCI. He was a volunteer with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, and was an accomplished musician who played and wrote music. He had studied with the Deamon and Bennett School of Dance in Cedar Rapids. Survivors include: his father, Jack, and his wife, Janet Brandmill of Elma, Iowa and Quincy, Illinois; his mother, Patricia E. Hughes of Cedar Rapids; two brothers: John P. Brandmill and his wife Kimberly of St. Louis, Missouri, and Clifford Hughes of Pewaukee, Wise.; one sister: Elizabeth Hughes of Cedar Rapids; two aunts: June Judge of Iowa City and Janet Ruth Mentzel and her husband, Robert, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
