Biography of MYRON BEECHER CONVERSE
Myron Beecher Converse joined his sister Abbie, seven, and his brother, Willard, five, on August 31, 1875 when he was born to Sam and Ellen Converse at their Winneshiek County, Iowa farm home. When he was five, his parents moved a few miles to a farm two miles northwest of Protivin. Nine years later, they moved to a farm one mile south of Cresco where Myron was to spend the next 25 years, first as a schoolboy helper, later as manager of this large stock farm.
He graduated from Cresco High School in 1894 and became a "joiner", having membership in I.O.O.F., First Congregational Church, Woodmen of the World and Co. I of the Iowa National Guard stationed at Cresco.
On November 1, 1897, he married Clara Susan Frost at her parents farm home near Lime Springs, Iowa. They became the parents of two sons, Leonard and Clarence.
In 1914, they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Myron entered the real estate business under the name, Converse Realty Company. Here he joined the Wesley Methodist Church, the Real Estate Association, and the Minnesota Good Government League. He was president of the latter organization for years.
He was divorced about 1925 and remarried to Anna Mae about 1926. He died April 21, 1949 in Minneapolis with funeral services at the Wesley Methodist Church. Interment was at Hudson, Iowa in the Hudson Cemetery.
