aka Betts Cemetery
Abandoned. Located 2 miles east of Gifford on Laverne Haywood farm.From Gifford go east to 290th St go to W Ave It is a family burial plot, in the middle of a pasture on the west bank on the west bank of Bear Creek. In 1865 this cemetery would have been a mile off the old Stage road which passed through this township on its way from Martshalltown to Eldora and beyond. The remains of some of these people have been hand carried back from the road several hundred feet so they might be interred with their relatives in this small cemetery. The first burial ere was in 1874 and the last in 1916.
