Some few years later he went to California via N.Y. City & Isthmus of Panama. After the war he came to Hamilton Co & settled in Williams Twp & that was before there was a house on the present site of Williams. In 1882 he moved into Williams & established a mercantile business. He served in the army of the Cumberland & was for a time attached to the staff of the army in the field and thus was given opportunity to meet & sometimes to measure, some of the noted men of that day. After the war he located in Tipton, Cedar Co, Ia & resided there until 1882 when he came to Hamilton Co. After the death of his wife in 1895 he went to Oklahoma & remained there until his death.
