Claims to the Board of Supervisors

Procedings of the Board of Supervisors.

Clerk's Office, Greene Co., Iowa.
Jefferson, June 1, 1863

The Board of Suprervisors of Greene County met pursuant to law.

Present, H. W. Chambers, Joseph Deemer, and Alfred Allison.

Mahlon Head presented a certificate of appointment from the trustees of
Jefferson township showing that he had been duly appointed a
member of the Board of Supervisors from said township to
fill the vanancy therein, and he, having took and subscribed to the prescribed oath, took his seat.

There being no chairment, the Board elected Alfred Allison chairman for the year 1868,
when the following business was transacted.

[Note: The claim for scalps is  most likely for gopher scalps.]

The Board then proceeded to equalize the assessment with the following result:

Ordered that the Clerk deduct on meat cattle nineteen percent in Kendrick township,
two percent in Washington township, and twenty-eight percent in Jefferson township;
also, on horses twenty-one percent in Kendrick township, and
thirty-six percent in Jefferson township, as returned by the assessors,
and that the balance of said assessment be approved.

Ordered that the Counjty employ Albert Head to draw order compelling
Wilkinson Taylor to secure the county in the future maintenance of
his daughter Elixzabeth.

Allowed Wintersteen & Co. for work done in repairing County road near
Union Mills in Washington township - 500.00.

The Board then adjorned to meet at eight o'clock to-morrow morning.
