The Armour Institute, 33rd Street and Armour Avenue,
Chicago, Illinois, was founded in 1892. The school was funded with a
gift from Philip Danforth Armour, Sr. a wealthy grain merchant and meat
packer. The school trained young men in mechanical and electrical
engineering, architecture, mathematics, and physics. When the United
States entered the World War, the Armour Institute was turned into a
training camp. |
