Paul Walters' Death in the South

After a month spent in the effort to locate Paul Walters, the soldier son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Walters, the anxious parents have received the information that he died in a southern camp some time ago. Paul had been transferred to Chattanooga, from Camp Forest, Lytle, Georgia, but the parents had no knowledge of the change. Hearing reports of his death, the parents have been endeavoring to obtain the facts. The young soldier was twenty-five years of age, and was born in Washington township, Johnson county. He was called to the front July 30. The bereaved family resides in Sharon township - those surviving Paul are his parents, three sisters and six brothers, Flo, Minnie, Esther, Henry, Jesse, Roy, Ivan, Elias and Emory. To the father, mother, sisters and brothers, the county extends heartfelt sympathy. A telegram from camp, received by Schneider Brothers, states that the remains left Chattanooga yesterday. The body is expected here later in the week. Burial will take place in Iowa City.

Friends of Paul Walters grieve to hear of his untimely death which at last has been confirmed. Mr. Walters was well known in this community. His brother Henry, who is now in France is reported to have gone "over the top" three times in recent battles and came back unharmed.
