LEMER PAUL WEIH, specialist in eye, ear, nose and throat, had completed his early training and had practiced for a short time in Clinton when he was called to the colors during the World war. After the war he resumed his work in Clinton and has enjoyed a steadily increasing reputation in his special field over a large section of Eastern Iowa.

Doctor Weih was born at Wilton Junction, Iowa, February 13, 1888, son of John H. and Caroline (Wipperman) Weih. His parents were born in Germany, his father being about fifteen and his mother about nineteen years of age when they came to America. His father during his active lifetime was engaged in the shoe business at Wilton Junction, where the son grew up and completed his common school education.

Doctor Weih finished his high school work in West Liberty, and then entered the medical department of the University of Iowa, where he took his M. D. degree in 1912. He remained for post-graduate study and received another degree in 1913, and for one year was an interne in the Iowa City University Hospital. For twelve months he studied and attended clinics in Vienna, Austria, spent six months at the University of Gratz and six months at the
university in Germany, and then returned home and in 1916 engaged in the private work of his profession at Clinton.

During the World war Dr. Weih was commissioned a first lieutenant in the Medical Corps, was assigned duty in the Neuro Surgical School at New York, was instructor in nerve surgery at Fort Oglethorpe, then became a member of Neuro Surgical Unit No. 1, and in 1918 went to France, acting as head of Operating Team No. 578. He also served with Mobile Hospitals Nos. 2, 6 and 8, and finally with Evacuation Hospital No. 114. Doctor Weih returned to America in February, 1919, and the great bulk of his work is now confined to eye, ear, nose and throat cases.

Doctor Weih is a member of the Iowa State, Clinton County and American Medical Associations, has membership in the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Societies and the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Otology have granted him certificates of special proficiency. He is specialist on the staff of the Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital.

Doctor Weih is a member of the Clinton Country Club, Kiwanis Club, Commercial Club, Chamber of Commerce, is a thirty-second degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Doctor Weih married, February 21, 1918, Grace, daughter of Harry C. and Florence Stumbaugh, of Clinton. Her parents are retired residents of Clinton. The two children of Doctor and Mrs. Weih are John E. and Elmer Paul.
