14 HAVE ENLISTED
 
The local board received instructions, the last of the week to accept enlistments for voluntary induction from registrants to enter one of three schools in Iowa for technical training as radio operators, auto mechanics and truck drivers. Fourteen men have answered the call and will leave June 10 for the service. Those who enlisted as radio operators go to the state university at Iowa City, the auto mechanics go to either Iowa City or Ames and the truck drivers go to the Des Monies colleges. Those who have enlisted in the radio class are T.G. Samuelson; Fred R. Wessman and Francis L. Casey, all of Red Oak. Those in the auto mechanic class are Carl Asplund, W.C. Weinman, Lee Roy Hite, of Red Oak, Harry W. Shields, Paul C. Fisher, Leslie Watts, of Villisca, and F.A. Jarvis, of Grant. Those who enlisted as truck drivers are Wm. H. Smith, Vance W. Wallin, Reynold E. Swanson, of Stanton, and L.H. Bruce, of Red Oak.
