ATLANTIC, Ia., March 14. - Special: The first casualty list of Atlantic boys was received in this city today. O. O. Conley, a grocer, received word that his son, Cecil Conley, was killed in action Saturday, March 9. The young man was born Sept. 24, 1898, at Anita, Ia., and enlisted April 11, 1917. He would have been graduated from the Atlantic High school this year. Conley was a member of the Methodist church and was prominent in Sunday school work. He leaves his father, mother, a brother and two sisters to mourn his death.

Frederick Turner, the son of R. R. Turner, a farmer in this vicinity, was also killed in action March 9. He was born Dec. 12, 1897, at Wiota, Ia., and enlisted June 5, 1917. He graduated from the Atlantic High school in the class of 1915 and before joining the army was studying to be a veterinarian at the State college at Ames.

Joseph Fudge, who was reported as being seriously, wounded is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Fudge of this city. He was born in this county and was 19 years old. He enlisted April 14, 1917, in the infantry. He was a former student of the Atlantic High school.

Jens Kjar, a painter here, was notified that his son, Harold, was seriously wounded. He was born in this city Nov. 13, 1899, and was a student of the public schools. He enlisted April 12, 1917.

All four of the men were student or former students of the local high school and enlisted in Company M. of the One Hundred Sixty-eight infantry.
