The cemetery is located in Section 1, Richland twp., in a clearing on the edge of a large heavily wooded area not too far south of Bailey creek. To the east the nearest road is Mallard Ave. To the south the nearest road is 250th St., to the north Cerro Gordo St. and to the west is Lark Ave (S-34).

Shobe's Grove in Richland Township was named for John Shobe and his wife, Evaline (Wood) Shobe. It was a thick woodland ..... Roderick McKenzie bought out John Shobe, near Shobe's Grove, about 1868. (source: WPA "History of Franklin Co. Iowa" ca1941)
