Funeral Services for Mrs. A. J. Fox
Funeral services were held Wednesday afteroon
for Mrs. A. J. Fox, a long-time resident of Fayette. The services
were held at the United Methodist church in Fayette, with Dr. Geroge
T. Carl officiating. She died Saturday, June 8, at the hospital in
Rochester, Minn.
Helen Carpenter Smith was born March 13, 1881
in Rochester, Ill., the daughter of Guernsey and Charity Smith. They
moved to a farm near Randalia while she was still an infant.
She was united in marriage with Austin J. Fox
on Dec. 10, 1902. They operated a furniture store and funeral home
in Fayette until his death in 1938.
She is survived by two sons: Dr. Robert Fox of
Baltimore, Md., and Carl of Springfield, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four
brothers, and three sisters.
Mrs. Fox had served as chairman of the Red
Cross in Fayette, was an active member of the United Methodist
church, served as president of the Ladies Aid Society and a member
of the DAR
