Miss Jennie Smith of Hawkeye spent the week
end with her sister, Mrs. A. J. Fox.
Mrs. A. J. Fox entertained Tuesday afternoon
as a farewell courtesy honoring Mrs. L. J. Smith and Mrs. Grace
Sloan who are moving about October 15 to their new home in
Strawberry Point. The afternoon was spent socially and bridge was
played at three tables. Eighteen guests were present. A delicious
lunch was served at the close of the afternoon.
The Shakespeare Club held their first meeting
of the year October 2 with Mrs. Margaret Jayne Collett. A one
o'clock luncheon was served following which Mrs. A. Goby reviewed
the book, "The Dr. Has a Baby," by Evelyn Barkin in a very pleasing
manner. 16 members and two guests, Mrs. Dorothy Goebel and Mrs.
Wilma Finch Felton of Santa Tablo, Calif., who is visitering her
mother, Mrs. Grace Finch, were present. The program committee, Mrs.
Collett, Mrs. J. D. Parker and Mrs. A. J. Fox, served as hostesses.
The next meeting will be with Mrs. C. R. Carpenter.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fox of Maryland arrived
Saturday for a visit in home of their mothers, Mrs. A. J. Fox and
Mrs. J. D. Parker. Mr. C. R. Carpenter, Mrs. J. D. Parker and Mrs.
A. J. Fox drove to Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin to meet them on
Saturday.
