COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
Regular session of the Town Council met in the
Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Mayor F. A. Hoyt presiding. Members present:
Hartman, Hettler, Billings, Carter and Fox. Minutes of meeting held
July 7, read and approved.
Moved by Carter, seconded by Billings, that a
committee be appointed to sell the east end of Clark Street that
lies between Stransham and Ash lots. Motion carried. Carter and Fox
appointed.
Moved by Carter, seconded by Billings that a
committee be appointed to negotiate with Smith Bros. as to buying
the. . .east of Iowa known as the dump grounds. Motion carried.

A. J. Fox and E. N Harman attended a Shrine
meeting at Cedar Rapids Monday evening. they called on C. C. Mirick
at Mercy Hospital and found him gaining slowly and very hopeful of
saving his eye.

Among those who attended the funeral of A. J.
Carpetent at Elkader yesterday were his daughters who are here in
school, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Carpenter and son, Arthur, Mrs. A. e.
Whitney, Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Claxton, Dr. and Mrs. Dickman, Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Fox, Dr. and Mrs. J. D. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. B. [?] W.
