OBITUARY
Ellen Barnhouse, nee
Hawk, was born May 25, 1861, and died of anemia March 10, 1928, in
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Stillman, near Brainard, at
the age of sixty-six years, nine months and fourteen days. She was
united in marriage to James Barnhouse, who died August 20, 1911.
This union was blessed with the following children: Fred and Milton,
deceased, Mrs. Charles Appleman, of Hawkeye, Mrs. Harry Stillman,
Mrs. Herman Boyer, John and Frank of West Union, Otto of Chicago,
Mrs. L. F. McCollum of Benchland, Montana, and Dean and Christ, of
Buffalo, Mont. She also leaves to mourn nineteen grandchildren, two
sisters, Mrs. Emma House and Josephine, and two brothers, Fred and
William.
The deceased always lived in this community with the exception of a
few years in Montana. The funeral services were held in the Brainard
Baptist church Monday, March 12, Rev. Ph. Lauer officiating. His
text was Lucas 12,40. Appropriate songs were rendered
by Mrs. Sidney Patterson and Mrs. Martin Hovey. Burial was
made about three miles this side of West Union. The deceased had
many noble features and many friends.
