LEON ASSEMBLY ORDER OF RAINBOW FOR GIRLS |
Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, August 16, 1923 On the evening of August 8, 1923, Leon Assembly Order of Rainbow for Girls, was instituted with 28 charter members. The Supreme Assembly of the order is in McAlester, Oklahoma. This is a new organization and is making a wonderful growth over the different states. Many have heard of the ancient tradition, that at the end of the rainbow is a pot of gold. To us, the pot of gold is the heart of the American girl, deeply impressed in early life with its responsibilities. The object of this order is to endeavor to lift the standard of girlhood. The teachings are, that the Holy Bible is the rule of right living and the lessons taught symbolized by the colors of the rainbow, are the seven cardinal truths in our lives: Love, Religion, Nature, Immortality, Fidelity, Patriotism and Service which are guided by Faith, Hope and Charity. Those who are eligible to membership are girls from 14 to 18 years of age who are from the family of a Master Mason or Eastern Star or recommended by one or the other. The Assembly is sponsored by the Eastern Star and governed by and Advisory board formed from its members. MRS. FAY FARQUHAR was commissioned as deputy by the Supreme Assembly and put on the installation work in a highly creditable and satisfactory manner.
