Adolph Peter Hansen (1895 - 1997)
Adolph Peter Hansen was born on August 21, 1895 in Crawford County, Iowa, the son of August and Ida; Hansen. He died on Thursday, September 8, 1997, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa at the age 82.Adolph was raised on the family farm and received his formal education in the rural schools of the area. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith.
On February 21, 1917, Adolph was united in marriage to Bertha Albertson at Midway, Iowa. They made their home on the farm known as the six mile house in Goodrich Township, Crawford County. Adolph farmed his entire career and retired in 1957 moving to Denison. He became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in 1970.
In addition to his parents, Adolph was preceded in death by his wife Bertha in March of 1969, five brothers, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Survivors include, three daughters, Malinda, Mrs. Emil von Holdt of Round Lake, Minnesota; Lorraine, Mrs. Walter Woebke of Ida Grove; and Helen, Mrs. Bill Woebke of Forest Grove, Oregon; and one son Bernie Hansen also of Ida Grove, Iowa. Also be twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and one sister Mrs. Emma Reimer of Schleswig, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 10, 1977 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa. Burial was made in the Morgan Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. The Rev. Victor Hoyer officiated at the services. Pallbearers included, Wayne Woebke, Larry Woebke, Donald Woebke, Jim Fast, Bradley Hansen, Bruce Hansen, Steve Woebke and Terry Woebke. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction Of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, Iowa.

Agnes (Stender) Miller (1887 - 1974)
Agnes Wilhelmina Miller, nee Stender, was born July 24, 1887, in Crawford County and passed away at Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, July 31, 1974, at the age of 87. She was the daughter of the late August Stender and his wife, Emma Domann.She married Martin Miller on February 18, 1908 in Schleswig. They moved to Schleswig in 1941. Mr. Miller passed away in 1970. Since March of 1973, Mrs. Miller resided at Morningside Manor, Ida Grove.
She is survived by two children, a daughter, Elna, Mrs. Herman Garbe and a son, Herbert C. A. Miller.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 3, 1974, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig with Rev. R. J. Ratzlaff officiating. Mrs. Malinda Evers was the organist and Mrs. Gunnar Johnson and Mrs. Ernie Grell sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "The Lord is My Shepherd". Bearers were Leonard Clausen, Joe Griffin, Carl Korner, Arthur Schroeder, Lewis Clausen, Edwin Hargens, Carl Miller and James Stern. Interment took place at Morgan Cemetery.

Albert Dietrich Miller (1896 - 1976)
Albert Dietrich Miller, son of Henry Miller and Augusta nee Stender, was born in Schleswig, Iowa February 29, 1896. He completed Eighth grade of rural public school.His parents immigrated (to) the Schleswig community from Schleswig-Holstein Germany and were charter members of the Old Evangelical and Reformed Church, now the United Church of Christ. In 1910, Albert confirmed the Christian faith in the same church.
January 31, 1917 he was united in marriage to Elsie Christiansen in the United Church of Christ, Schleswig. They made their home on a farm southeast of Schleswig. Their union was blessed with two children: Ruby and Rodney Miller.
Albert was a life-long resident of the Schleswig community, served as a director of the Otter Creek Township School Board, and enjoyed fishing as a past-time. In 1963, he and his wife moved to Schleswig.
In June 1976, he entered Eventide Home, Denison, and died suddenly Monday, August 16. He attained the age of 80 years, 5 months and 16 days.
Preceding Albert in death were his parents; wife, Elsie, October 27, 1964; daughter, Ruby, November 7, 1959; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by one son, Rodney of LaHabra, California; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Hannah Mohr of Morningside Manor, Ida Grove.
Albert Miller's memorial service was held in the United Church of Christ, Schleswig, Thursday, August 19, at 10:30 with Pastor Fred Moore officiating. Malinda Evers, Evelyn Johnson and Jeanette Grell provided the music with songs of praise: "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Harold Schultz, Erwin Bendixen, Ray Evers, Robert Christiansen, LeRoy Christiansen and Roger Baer. The graveside service was in Morgan Cemetery.

Albert J. Schmidt (1886 - 1979)
Albert J. Schmidt was born Oct. 24, 1886 in Goodrich Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Louie and Mary Lange Schmidt. He died Dec. 23, 1979 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 93.Albert was raised in Goodrich Township, where he received his formal education in the rural schools near his home. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison.
On March 16, 1910, Albert was united in marriage to Hulda Peters at Grant township. They farmed near Denison in Goodrich Township until their retirement in 1947 when they moved to Denison. After Albert's wife Hulda died in 1970 he continued to make his home in Denison.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Albert was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include, two daughters, Mrs. Vernetta Paulsen and Lavern, Mrs. Fred Zage, both of Denison and one son, Ronald of Mesa, Ariz. Also by five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Anna Schwenn of Denison.
Funeral services were held Dec. 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison. Burial was in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. The Rev. John E. Lutze officiated at the services. Pallbearers included Marvin Schwenn, Earl Schmidt, Robert Freerking, Ronald Paulsen, Reynold Gehlsen and Larry Schmidt. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, Iowa.

Alma A. (Goerner) Marten (1898 - 1980)
Alma A. Marten was born Apr. 8. 1898 at Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Franz and Emma Lipsky Goerner. She died Apr 17, 1980 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, at the age of 82.Alma was raised on a farm east of Charter Oak. She received her education in the Charter Oak Schools.
On Apr. 8, 1915, she was united in marriage to Henry Marten at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. They made their home on a farm east of Charter Oak for a number of years before moving into Charter Oak.
Alma was employed in Charter Oak for several years. She also provided child care for many Charter Oak families for many years.
After her husband's death in 1962 she continued to make Charter Oak her home. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church as well as a member of St. John's Ladies Aid.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Alma was preceded in death by one son, Walter, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include, one daughter, Florence, Mrs. Edward Greh of Brighton, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. Also by three brothers, Herman Schreiber of San Diego, Calif., Adolph Schrieber of Santa Clara, Calif., and Carl Schreiber of Ricketts, and five sisters. Mrs, Ida Seils of Schleswig, Mrs. Martha Seils of Charter Oak, Mrs. Marie Dunlop of Sioux City, Clara, Mrs. John Listamann of Charter Oak and Mrs. Martha Rickert of Chicago, Ill.
Funeral services were held on Apr. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Charter Oak. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. L.C. Gebhartd officiated at the services. Pallbearers included, Kent Rusche, Donald Hopp, Ronald Kelm, Loren Seils, Gailen Meseck and Larry Aronson. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Charter Oak.

Alma C. (Schoenfeld) Clausen (1897 - 1993)
Alma C. Clausen was born December 25, 1897, the daughter of Fritz and Cecilia Geimer Schoenfeld. She died at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison on Thursday, June 17, 1993 at the age of ninety-five years.Alma was born on a farm in Hanover Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized on February 13, 1898 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Soldier and later confirmed there on March 31, 1912.
She received her education in a rural school near her home and graduated from the Immanuel Lutheran School in Soldier Township. After completing her education, Alma worked at home until she was united in marriage to Herbert Clausen on June 30, 1921. The couple settled on a farm in Morgan Township and were blessed with the birth of three children.
Alma and Herbert farmed until they retired in 1949 and moved to Denison. In 1968, Herbert died and Alma remained at home until 1988 when she moved to the Eventide Lutheran Home.
She was a loving wife and caring and considerate mother who always had time for her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and their Dorcas Society.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Bielfeldt and her husband, John of Arion; Delores Ahrenholtz and her husband, Willis of Denison; and one son, Donald Clausen and his wife Dorothy of Schleswig. Also eight grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, 1993 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Pastor Kurt Kaiser and Pastor Philip E. Bloch officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns "Just As I Am, Without One Plea", "What a Friend We Have In Jesus" and "I'm But a Stranger Here". Honorary Pallbearers were: Jerry Ebert, Brian Clark and Irvin Zeimen. Pallbearers were: Dean Ahrenholtz, Denise Clausen, James Bielfeldt, Jeff Ahrenholtz, Debra Zeimen, Darlis Clausen, Lynn Ebert and Jan Clark. The Walter A. Huebner and Sons Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Alma M. Stegemann (1890 - 1976)
Alma M. "Tina" Stegemann, daughter of William and Mathilda Fliss Stegemann, was born in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County, Iowa, Jan. 27, 1890. She attended rural country school in Otter Creek Township. Alma was a confirmed member of the Schleswig United Church of Christ and a member of the Women's Guild.She was a telephone operator in Schleswig from 1908 until her retirement. During this time the telephone office was above the old Krohnke building where she also did her own janitorial work.
She was a lifelong resident of the Schleswig community until 1973 when she resided in Eventide Nursing Home until her death Tuesday, June 8, 1976, at the age of 86 years, 5 months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Memorial services were held in the Schleswig United Church or Christ, June 10, with burial in Morgan Cemetery. Officiating was Pastor Fred Moore. Music was provided by Barbara Buffum and Malinda Evers. Hymns of praise were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Pallbearers were Arthur Nelson, Albert Mohr, Jr., Ray R. Miller, Vernon Hulsebus, Fred Mohr and Albert Mohr. Arrangements were by Sinn's Funeral Home, Schleswig.

Alta I. (Chamberlain) Justice (1890 - 1991)
Alta Idell, daughter of Samuel S. and Melvina Pratt Chamberlain, was born April 4, 1890, near Panama, Iowa. She was the youngest member of a family of eight children. Alta was educated at Panama, and was a member of the first graduating class of the Panama Public School in 1907.On Dec. 23, 1908, Alta was united in marriage with Ralph Justice at Harlan, Iowa. Eight sons were born to this union: Kenneth, Earl, Harold, George, Amos, Clifford, Russell and Howard.
Alta and her husband farmed near Panama for two years, then east of Defiance for seven years. They moved to a farm east of Manilla and remained there until moving to the town of Manilla in 1942.
Alta always had a big garden and did a lot of canning while her family was growing up. She enjoyed sewing, craftwork, and loved to read. Alta was a member of the Methodist church since 1905.
Alta's husband, Ralph, died in 1970. Alta became a resident of the Manilla Manor Nursing Home, Manilla, Iowa in 1984. She died there Saturday evening, July 6, 1991, at the age of 101 years, 3 months and 2 days.
Besides her husband, Alta was preceded in death by her parents; by three brothers in infancy and two brothers, Clint and Emery; by two sisters, Dora Potter and Susan Eckley; by two sons, Kenneth and Earl; by two daughters-in-law, Kathryn Justice and Bernice Justice; and by three grandsons in infancy.
Alta is survived by six sons: Harold and his wife, Anna of Carroll, George of Earling, Amos and his wife, Arlene of Rogers, Ark., Clifford and his wife, Frances of Irwin, Russell and his wife, Darlene of Irwin, and Howard and his wife, Norma of Ankeny; by a daughter-in-law, Marian Justice of Denison; by 24 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and by other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Manilla with the Reverend Anita Johnson officiating. Honoray pallbearers included Keith Justice, Roger Justice, Lynn Justice, John Justice, David Justice, Craig Justice and Earl Justice. Pallbearers were Richard Justice, Wayne Justice, Larry Justice, Gary Justice, Steve Justice and Jim Justice. Interment was in the Nishnabotna Cemetery at Manilla. The Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Alvena (Bielenberg) Hanneman (1895 - 1987)
Alvena Catherine Margareta Hanneman was born on June 23, 1895, in Iowa, the daughter of Henry Bielenberg and Dora Andresen Bielenberg. She died on August 22, 1987, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa.Alvena attended rural schools in Morgan Township. She was confirmed in the Friedens Evangelical Church in Schleswig.
On February 14, 1918, Alvena and Emil Hanneman of Schleswig were united in marriage in Schleswig. To this union three children were born. They made their home on a farm west of Schleswig until March 1957, when they retired and moved into Schleswig. Emil died in August 1970. Alvena continued to make her home in Schleswig until August 1981 when she entered Eventide Lutheran Home.
Alvena was a member of the United Church of Christ and a member of the Women's Guild of the church.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Alvena was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, her son Byron and two brothers, Herman and Albert Bielenberg.
Survivors include her son, Bruce Hanneman and his wife, Alvera of Schleswig; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one daughter-in-law, Delores Hanneman of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 25, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig with burial in the Morgan Township Cemetery near Schleswig. Rev. Darrell Bailey officiated. Mrs. Evelyn Johnson served as organist for Mrs. Barbara Buf-fum, soloist. Selections were "Abide With Me" and "How Great Thou Art". Serving as pallbearers were Richard Kuhlmann, Marlowe Schultz, Len Hanneman, David Chin, Lawrence Bartels and Pete Paulsen.

Amanda (Henkel) Krohnke (1891 - 1974)
Funeral services for Amanda Krohnke were held Thursday, June 13, 1974, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, with Rev. R.J. Ratzlaff officiating. Miss Becky Ratzlaff was the organist. Mrs. Ernie Grell, soloist, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset".Amanda Sophie Krohnke nee Henkel was born in Crawford County Iowa, May 15, 1891 to Herman Henkel and his wife, Augusta Borchardt. She was baptized and confirmed at the age of 13.
On August 12, 1914, she married Edward Krohnke. The couple would have observed their 60th anniversary on August 12 of this year. To this union was born four children, Edgar Krohnke, Howard Krohnke, Louella, now Mrs. Kenneth Peters of Arcadia, and Joyce at home.
Besides her husband and four children, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Frieda Seils of Charter Oak, Mrs. Laura Hargens of Carroll and Mrs. Minnie Haymaker of Deloit; one brother, Daniel Henkel of Dow City; two grandchildren, Douglas Krohnke and Priscilla Krohnke; one great-grandson, Sean Krohnke, step-grandchildren Lois and Caroline and children, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Pallbearers were: John Gosch, Glen Henkel, Lenard Kastner, Gaylen Bahnsen, Francis Krohnke and Arthur Hallbauer. Interment was in Morgan Cemetery.

Amelia M. (Petersen) Miller (1892 - 1991)
Amelia Martha Miller was born March 9, 1892, the daughter of Lorenz and Wilhelmina Suckstorf Petersen. She died March 18, 1991 at the Eventide Nursing Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 99.Amelia was born on the family farm in Morgan Township near Schleswig, and received her education in a rural school near her home.
On Dec. 22, 1915 Amelia and Alex W. Miller were united in marriage in Schleswig. The couple made their home on a farm near Schleswig and were blessed with the birth of one daughter. They farmed in the Schleswig area until retirement in 1944 when they moved to Schleswig. Alex died in 1954 and Amelia remained in Schleswig.
Amelia was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. She occupied her spare time in her vegetable garden as well as her flower garden, and took particular delight in tatting. Additionally, she enjoyed socializing with friends in the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alex; two brothers, Henry and John; and three sisters: Ella Petersen, Emma Burk and Lillian Bendixen.
Survivors include one daughter, Marcella Gronau and her husband, Eldred of Schleswig; two grandchildren, Lawayne Gronau and his wife, Pam, and Janice Siebe, both of Schleswig; four great grandchildren: Klynn Greene and her husband, Troy of Des Moines, Kelli Siebe and her fiance, Gary Ludwig of Breda, Shari Briggle and her husband, Todd of Schleswig, and Layne Gronau of Schleswig; and one great great granddaughter, Brittani J. Briggle.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. The Rev. James Schatz officiated the service with Dorothy Jessen serving as organist for a trio of Barb Buffum, Janet Lafrentz and Pam Gronau singing "In the Garden" and "The Lord is My Shepherd." Pallbearers were Layne Gronau, Todd Briggle, Troy Greene, Gary Ludwig, Arwood Jessen and Dale Jensen. Interment was in the Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig. The Walter A. Huebner & Sons' Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge.

Anita (Krohnke) Hecht (1898 - 1983)
Anita Krohnke Hecht was born on September 15, 1898, near Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Adam and Annie Ernst Krohnke . She died on Wednesday morning, September 14, 1983, at the Denison Care Center in Denison at the age of 84.Anita moved with her family to Lyon County, Iowa at the age of 10. The family made their home on a farm near Larchwood. Anita attended the rural schools near her home.
On March 2, 1919, Anita was united in marriage to Edward Hecht in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They made their first home in Lyon County. In 1931, they moved to Crawford County where they began farming near Schleswig. After their retirement in 1958, they moved into the Schleswig community. Anita took an active part in farming with her husband. She was also a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig.
In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, two brothers Arthur and Claudius and one sister Wanita Horn.
Survivors include two daughters, Florence, Mrs. Arnold Jepsen of Schleswig, and Lois, Mrs. Charles Kruse of Denison. Also surviving are six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Julia Knutson of Schleswig as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 16, 1983, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. The Rev. Fred Moore officiated at the services. Mrs. Evelyn Johnson served as organist with Mrs. Rubie Kastner as soloist. Hymns included "Abide With Me" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Dean Kruse, Bernard Lupton, Christian Johnson, John Bahnsen, Francis Krohnke and Leon Gosch.

Anna A. (Lorenzen) Wiese (1880 - 1972)
Anna Amelia Lorenzen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lorenzen was born in Crawford County, Iowa, on Oct. 21, 1880. She received her schooling at Denison, Ia. and on Nov. 24, 1898 she was united in marriage to John B. Wiese.They settled on a farm at Denison and moved to Manning in the fall of 1911. They farmed there until returning to Crawford County in 1919. In 1924 they moved to South Dakota where they farmed until retiring on the farm northwest of Flandreau.
Mr. Wiese passed away in January 1966 and for the past five years Mrs. Wiese has made her home at Riverview Manor in Flandreau where she passed away on Thursday, October 5,1972. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Henrv (Adeline) Christiansen, Denison, Ia., Mrs. Herbert (Johanna) Volkmann, Deloit, Ia., Mrs. Emil (Marie) Koenck, Truman, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Edythe) Garrison, Camas, Wash., Mrs. Henry (Winnifred) Luschen and Mrs. Ervin (Maxine) Doyle, both of Flandreau, S.D., Mrs. Raymond (Alice) Richael, Garretson, S.D.; two sons, Robert, Wilmont, Minn. and Andrew, Flandreau, S.D.; one brother Andrew Lorenzen, Long Beach, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. on October 9 at the Second Presbyterian Church in Flandreau, South Dakota, with the Rev. Solomon Gruneich officiating, and at 3 p.m. at the Maxwell Funeral Home in Denison. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery in Denison. There were duets at the services sung by Mrs. Herman Steenhoven and Mrs. Minnie Locke and by Mr. and Mrs. Bonard Christiansen. Pallbearers were Norvald Scofield, Harley Koch, Herman Peper, Ronald Richael, Robert Wiese, John Wiese, Francis Jewett, Henry Bell, Robert Suhr, Palmer Volkmann, Robert Koenck and Dale Christiansen.

Anna C. (Schmidt) Schwenn (1891 - 1989)
Anna Catherine Schwenn, the daughter of Lewis and Maria Lange Schmidt, was born on June 19, 1891, near Denison, Ia., and died on Oct. 4, 1989, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, at the age of 98 years.Anna attended a rural school near Denison, and on Jan. 15, 1912, she and Wilhem M. Schwenn were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. This union was blessed with five children. They farmed south of Schleswig for two years, moving to a farm northwest of Denison until the fall of 1953, when they moved to Denison. She continued to live in her home until July, 1982, when she broke her hip, and was forced to enter Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, where she continued to live until her death.
Anna was baptized on Aug. 10, 1891, and later confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, and was a life long member of the church.
Preceding Anna in death were her husband, Wilhem; her parents; one infant sister; three brothers; two sons; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Surviving Anna are her children: Violet and her husband, Alvin Petersen of Seaside, Calif., Alvin Schwenn and his wife, Eleanor of Denison, Irene and her husband, Ewald Stark of Westside; one daughter-in-law, Malinda vonHoldt of Round Lake, Minn; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Velma Schmidt of Storm Lake.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Pastor Kurt Kaiser officiated at the services with interment in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Anna M. (Hollander) Woest (1860 - 1935)
Manilla Resident, Mrs. Anna M. Woest Died At Walkertown Sat.MANILLA, Feb. 18 Special to the Review - Mrs. Anna Margaretha Woest, nee Hollander, was born Feb. 17, 1860, in St. Margarethen on Elbe, Germany, and passed peacefully away at her home Saturday morning, February 16, at the age of 74 years, 11 months and 30 days.
In infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran faith and later renewed her baptismal vow on the day of her confirmation. Up to about her twentieth year she remained in Germany.
In the year 1881 she, together with a brother, came to this country, locating in Pottawattamie county, near Council Bluffs. In the fall of the same year she was united in holy wedlock to Meves Schmielau of near Council Bluffs, now the town of Treynor. To this union six children were born, one of whom preceded the parents in death. For the next 13 years she remained at the afore mentioned place.
On the 12th day of May, her husband passed way, leaving her a widow with five children. She remained at Treynor for two more years, up to 1896. In that year she, together with her five children, moved to Crawford country, locating at Aspinwall. After residing there for a period of three years she was remarried, this time marrying John Woest. The family then moved to a farm eight miles north of Aspinwall, remaining on the same farm for the next 11 years. In the spring of 1911 the family moved to the town of Aspinwall, living there for 19 years. In 1930 her husband purchased the property in Walkertown and moved there shortly afterward. It was here on Aug. 31, 1933, her second husband preceded her in death.
Though seemingly well physically, deceased was afflicted with greatly impaired sight, being practically unable to see. Last year, however, she was afflicted with physical ailment and took to bed on the 20th of October, which proved to be a long and protracted sickbed and finally her death bed. For four months she was bedfast, during which time she was a patient sufferer, confessing her faith in her Savior and longing to be relieved of the troubles of this time. Her desire was granted early Saturday morning, February 16, when she fell asleep peacefully and, as we hope, in faith in her Savior and Redeemer, after, after having received the tender care of her loved ones.
She is mourned by the following children by her first marriage: Mrs. Harvey Johnson, Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Henry Ranniger, Vail: Mrs. Wm, Ahmen, also of Rock Island ; Otto and John Shmielau, both of Manilla; and the children of her second marriage, Hugo Woest of Davenport and Frieda, Woest of Manilla, Besides these there are to mourn her passing one brother, John Hollander; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 Monday afternoon and at the Trinity Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, with Rev. F. C. Israel conducting the services. Interment was in Iowa township cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Steckelberg, Wm. Boyens, John Ehlers, John Wick, Richard Marten and A. C. Behrends.

John Detlef Woest (1864 - 1933)
Last Rites for John Detlef Woest Held On Saturday AfternoonMANILLA, Sept, 6. - John D. Woest, a well known resident of Aspinwall and Manilla communities for nearly half a century, passed away at his home in Walkertown Thursday morning August 31. Death resulted from cancer of the stomach.
Mr. Woest had not enjoyed the best of health for several years, but his final illness was of only a week's duration. At that time he became quite ill, but the day preceding his demise, felt well enough so that he planned on a trip to town. However, just before starting he was again taken ill and retired to his bed. His death occurred at an early hour the following morning.
John Detlef Woest was born in Albersdorf, Holstein, Germany, Sept. 22, 1864, and passed away at his home in Manilla Aug 31, 1933, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 9 days.
The early years of his life were spent in native land and it was there he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith to which he remained true until his demise.
In 1885, at the age of 21 years, he immigrated to the United States, coming directly to Crawford county and settling at Aspinwall. For the next 14 years he worked in and and around Aspinwall.
In 1890 Mr. Woest was united in marriage with Mrs. Anna Maragaretha Schmielau, who survives him. This union was blessed with three children, one of whom passed away at the age of two months. The surviving children are Hugo Woest of Davenport and Miss Frieda of Manilla. Five stepchildren also survive: Mrs. Kate Johnson and Mrs. Emma Ehman, both of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Ranninger of Vail; John Schmielau and Otto Schmielau, both of Manilla.
For the first three years after his marriage Mr. Woest continued to make his home in Aspinwall, after which period he moved to a farm north of Aspinwall, where the family lived for nine years. In 1911 Mr. Woest retired from the farm and returned to Aspinwall where he resided until three years ago.
Disposing of his property there in 1930, he came to Manilla and purchased property in Walkertown where he has since made his home.
Funeral services were conducted from the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and from Trinity Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Rev. F. V. Israel conducted both services. Interment was in the Iowa township cemetery. Pallbearers were Wm. Schade, Henry Schade, John Weeks, Louis Schroeder, Henry Claussen and Fred Steckelberg. - Manilla Times.

Waldo E. A. Teut (1919 - 1978)
Waldo Erwin Albert Teut was born on January 26, 1919, at Soldier Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Herman and Anna Wiedemann Teut. He died on Wednesday, October 4, 1978 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kansas at the age of 59.Waldo was raised on a family farm and received his formal education in the rural schools in Soldier Township. He was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township.
Waldo entered the trucking business in the area of his home working for various firms. In approximately 1963 he moved to Topeka, Kansas where he worked for North American Van and Storage Lines. He later worked for Comet Moving and Storage where he has since been employed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include seven brothers, Melvin and Arlo of Schleswig, Ralph of Ute, Herbert of Mapleton, Kermit of Denison, Raymond of Marion, Ohio and Everett of Omaha, Nebraska and three sisters, Edna, Mrs. Marcus Wodtke and Ruby, Mrs. A. A. Waderich both of Mapleton and Erna, Mrs. Gilbert Nihsen of rural Charter Oak. He is also survived by thirty-two nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 6, 1978, at 10:30 a. m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Ricketts, Iowa. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soldier Township. The Rev. Theodore Letzring of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Iowa, officiated at the services. Pallbearers included nephews Robert Beeck, Verdell Wodtke, Eldon Teut, Gary Teut, Ronald Teut, LoWayne Nihsen and Gail Teut.

Alfred C. Petersen (1918 - 2001)
Alfred C. Petersen was born January 30, 1918, the son of John and Lulu Smith Petersen. He died Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-three.Alfred was born on a farm in Hayes Township and received his education in rural schools near his home. He continued his education at a radio tech school in Omaha and worked at CCC Camps in Mantino Park near Mondamin, until entering the United States Navy on April 4, 1942 and serving as a Motor Machinist's Mate. He received his honorable discharge on November 28, 1945 and returned to Denison, where he worked in the body and fender shop at Denison Auto.
On February 16, 1947, Alfred was united in marriage to Loretta Eggert at Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison. The couple made their home in Denison and in December of 1947, Alfred was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran. In 1955, they began farming in Hanover Township and remained there for ten years. In 1966, Alfred began working at Farmers Mutual Insurance in Schleswig, remaining there until retiring in 1979.
Alfred was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and the Voter's Assembly. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was always available and willing to help anyone in need. Alfred enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and built two of the homes they lived in. In his leisure time, he loved socializing with family and friends and enjoyed playing cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack Petersen and one sister, Clara Hatala.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Denison; one son, Charles Petersen of Kalispell, Montana; one daughter, Leah Mitchell of Denison and her friend, Terry Vogt of Charter Oak; one granddaughter, Amy Mitchell and her friend, J.C. Granzen of Denison; four sisters, Bernice Olson of St. James, Minnesota; Dorothy Shiery of Bethany, Oklahoma; Audrey Kline of Dunlap; Retia Petersen of St. James, Minnesota; one brother, Leslie Petersen and his wife, Betty of Omaha, Nebraska; one brother-in-law, Matthew Hatala of Portland, Oregon; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. David Sewing officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Eldon Hardekopf singing "On Eagle's Wings" and congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives". Honorary pallbearers were: Emmett and Jan Lahr, Paul and Marcia Losh, Beverly Kracht and Stan Kracht. Pallbearers were: Don and Georgene Eggert, Jerry and Patti Boettger, Karen Reynolds, Ron Miller and Don and Donita Mork. Military honors were American Legion Post No. 8, Denison, Iowa. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Former pastor of UCC dies January 21Rev. Alfred F. Rinne, age 96, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and formerly of Schleswig, died Friday, January 21, 2000, at Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. January 25, at Bethel United Church of Christ of Nebraska City, Nebraska, with Rev. John C. David and Rev. Clarence Higgins officiating. Burial was in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Steinauer, Nebraska.
Alfred F. Rinne, son of Frederick and Minnie (Bredemeier) Rinne, was born on October 4, 1903 at Steinauer, Nebraska. His education was received in the Public Schools at Steinauer; Greeley State College, Greeley, Colorado; Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas; Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri; and Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves, Missouri. After graduating from Eden Seminary in 1927, he was ordained in his home church, Salem United Church of Christ at Steinauer by the Rev. Herman Krueger.
Pastor Rinne was united in marriage to Marguerite Koelling on August 18, 1928, by the Rev. Karl Fritsch in Maplewood, Missouri. Among the churches Pastor Rinne served was Friedens Church of Christ at Schleswig, Iowa for eighteen years. After Schleswig he served the United Church of Christ in Nebraska City, Nebraska for sixteen years. He also served as interim pastor for Zion United Church of Christ in Hamburg for one year. He retired in 1970. Rev. Rinne was honored by the Schleswig Church by being made Pastor Emeritus in 1973.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite of Nebraska City, Nebraska; daughter, Mary Lou Smith of Farmington, New Mexico; son Allen Rinne of Nebraska City; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers.

Alice Emma Louise (Abbe) Bruhn (1914 - 1995)
Alice Emma Louise Bruhn, the daughter of John and Hertha Marth Abbe, was born December 6, 1914 in Grant Township, Ida County. She died at the Dickinson County Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa, January 4, 1995 at the age of eighty years.Alice grew up on a farm and was baptized in Christ on January 24, 1915 by Rev. Schwenk at Trinity Lutheran Church, Grant Township and confirmed there in 1928. She received her education in Country Grant No. 7 School and Parochial School.
On August 19, 1931, she was united in marriage to Ray J. Bruhn from Mapleton, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. William Freese. The couple farmed for many years in Crawford and Ida County and were blessed with the birth of three children. The couple retired from farming in 1973 and made their home in Schleswig. In 1983, her husband, Ray died and in March of 1993, Alice moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa where she made her home with her sister, Esther and niece, Pat Jepsen. In the nearly two years that she lived with her sister and niece, Alice enjoyed and appreciated the love, devotion and caring they provided her.
Alice was a voting member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, their Ladies Aid and Fellowship Club. She was also a member of Senior Citizens and Eventide Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, playing cards and traveling with her sister, Esther.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray, one son, Delphin Bruhn in 1972, one grandson, Jay Teut in 1968 and one brother, Leonard in 1981.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Bruhn and his wife, Coleen of Schleswig; one daughter, Nancy Teut and friend, Rollie Schrank of Danbury; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Bruhn Neddermeyer and her husband, Herman of Ute; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Clara Stockfleth of West Chester, Ohio; Irene Paulsen of Ida Grove; Esther Jepsen of Spirit Lake; Lois Scott and her husband, Ray of Danbury; one brother, Ted Abbe of Schleswig; one sister-in-law, Hilda Brockmann of Mountain Home, Arkansas and one brother-in-law, Irwin Bruhn and his wife, Bernice of Denison.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 1995 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating the service and grave side rites at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Sharon Thompson provided the organ accompaniment for the congregational hymns Abide With Me and How Great Thou Art. Those serving as pallbearers were Dale Gronau, Reggie Bruhn, David Bruhn, Randy Bruhn, Dale Bruhn and Ryan Teut. A lunch, served by the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid, was served to those in attendance at the service and grave side rites. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of the arrangements.

Alice Sophie (Mesenbrink) Petersen (1901 - 1991)
Alice Sophie Petersen was born April 13, 1901, the daughter of Henry Mesenbrink and Margaret Hartwig Mesenbrink, and died April 29, 1991 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of 90 years.As an infant, Alice began her life as a Christian through Holy Baptism and reaffirmed her faith through Confirmation in German in St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak.
Alice was born on a farm in East Boyer Township, near Denison and later moved with her family to Charter Oak, where she lived with her family and received her education in a rural school.
On Aug. 19, 1920, Alice and John Whited Sr. were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church by Reverend Wm. Frese. To this union two sons and three daughters were born.
On March 5, 1930, Alice and Jurgen Petersen were united in marriage in Schleswig, by Reverend Kellhorn. To this union two sons and four daughters were born. Alice and Jurgen lived on a farm west of Schleswig. In 1959, Alice moved to Denison and lived with her daughter, Joleen, until August of 1987, when she entered the Denison Care Center. While living in Denison she was employed as a cook at the Nielsen Hotel and Midwestern College and retired in 1970.
Alice was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who cared for her family, and enjoyed her leisure time caring for her flowers. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jurgen Petersen; one daughter, Betty Boysen Dethlefson; two sons, James and Jurgen Petersen; two son-in-laws, Donald Klotz and Fred Dethlefson; one daughter-in-law, Marilyn Whited; one grandson and two granddaughters.
Alice is survived by six daughters: Joleen Carstenson and her husband, Willis, Mildred Rusch and her husband, Elmer, Ruby Ann Beermann and her husband Glen, all of Denison, Darlene Justice and her husband, Russel of Irwin, Gladys Rusch and her husband, Edwin of Schleswig, Hertha Saxton and her husband, Ben of Quimby; two sons, John Whited and his wife, Marjorie, and Roy Whited, both of Denison; also 22 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; one aunt, Dora Blunk of Anthon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, with Pastor James Schatz officiating the service and the grave side rites held at the Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig. Mrs. Dorothy Jessen served as organ accompanist for soloist Rubie Kastner singing "How Great Thou Art" and "One Day At A Time." Pallbearers were Roger Rusch, Leo Klotz, Leon Klotz, Gary Justice, Craig Whited and John A. Whited. Walter A. Huebner and Sons' Funeral Home of Denison was in charge of the arrangements.

Allan Doxee Borecky (1921 - 1993)
Allan Doxee Borecky was born September 13, 1921, the son of Charles and Bertha Doxee Borecky. He died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on October 20, 1993 at the age of 72 years.Allan was born in Denison, Iowa and received his education in the Denison Community School system, graduating from high school with the class of 1938. After completing his education, he was employed by the IGA Grocery Store and the Gelfands Food Store in Denison.
In 1941, Allan moved to Sheldon, Iowa and was employed at the Graves Brothers Construction Company until 1942 when he entered the U.S. Army and served with the Graves Registration Quartermasters Battalion. While in the Army, he served in England, on the Isle of Wright; France; Holland; Belgium; and Germany. He was awarded several medals including: the European Campaign medal; European Occupation medal; Victory Europe medal; and the Good Conduct medal.
In 1945, Allan was discharged from the service and settled in Coos Bay, Oregon where he was united in marriage to Edna Yarbrough in January of 1946. While there, he was employed at the Coos Bay Lumber for a short while before the couple returned to Denison where they were blessed with the birth of four children. Allan worked for the North Western Railroad for six months before beginning his employment, in 1946, with the Gambles Store in Denison.
He subsequently became the manager of the Gambles Stores in Sheldon and then Storm Lake before turning to Denison in 1958 where Allan worked for the Skelly Gas station until 1959. In 1959, the couple purchased the Main Inn Bar and the A & E Taxi service which they operated from 1959 to their retirement in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 8 and the V.F.W. Ninus L. Hunt Post No. 2504 in Denison.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, and his wife, Edna in 1986. Survivors include two sons, Roger and his wife, Ursula of Denison and Steven of Ft. Drum, New York; and one daughter, Gloria Ipsen and her husband, Arthur of Schleswig. Other survivors include: six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Weiss of Newell, Iowa; and two brothers, Wilbur of Denison and Harold and his wife, Betty of Falls Church, Virginia; and one nephew, Charles.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 25, 1993 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa with Rev. James Schatz officiating the service and graveside rites held at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for congregational hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Military Honors were: American Legion Post No. 8, Denison, Iowa. Pallbearers were: Aaron Borecky, Merlyn Reis, Joe Williams, James Ipsen, Mike Ipsen, Art Ipsen and Bill Vore. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them for lunch at the Roger Borecky residence. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Almarine (Boger) Gress (1924 - 2003)
Almarine Gress was born on February 19, 1924, the daughter of Herman and Alma Kahl Boger. She died Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of seventy-nine.Almarine was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa and was baptized in Christ on March 6, 1924 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and later confirmed there on April 10, 1938. She received her education in a rural school near her home and the Denison High School.
On May 16, 1943, Almarine was united in marriage to George Gress Jr. at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison by Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple made their home with Almarine's father, until moving to a farm near the Schleswig-Ricketts area. In 1963, they moved to Almarine's family farm, where they resided until their retirement, when they moved to an acreage near Denison, subsequently moving to Denison in 1988. Almarine and George enjoyed traveling together on bus tours and cruises, including Mexico and the Bahamas.
Almarine was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and their Dorcas Society. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and baking, especially bread. Almarine also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and socializing in cards in which she was a member of several neighborhood card clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George in 1993 and a brother, Lawrence Boger.
Survivors, include three daughters, Georgia Meseck and her husband, Dennis of Charter Oak; Nadine Palmer and her husband, Peter of Papillion, Nebraska; Phyliss Segebart and her husband, Dale of Denison; one son, David Gress and his wife, Patricia of Denison; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Art Gress and his wife, Nancy of Charter Oak; Charles Gress and his wife, Harriet of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Noreen Jordan and her husband, Charles of Waterloo; Gertrude Gress of Ricketts; one aunt, Lucinda Kahl of Charter Oak; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. Alva P. Lill was born Jan. 12, 1912 in Hanover township, Crawford County, Ia., the son of August and Josephine Teut Lill, and died March 10, 1988, at the Denison Care Center at the age of 76 years.He was baptized on February 15, 1912 and later confirmed into the Lutheran Faith on March 28, 1926 by Rev. Runge. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School in Hanover Township where he graduated, and subsequently began his farming career with his father.
On March 1, 1936, Alva was united in marriage to Erna Neddermeyer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, and in this area they farmed and made their Christian home rearing four children.
Alva retired from farming in 1974 and moved to Dow City in 1979, although during the interim years he worked for the Ricketts Telephone Co. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Erna; one brother and one sister. He is survived by one son Alva and his wife, Ruth of Lawton; and three daughters, Marie and her husband, Richard Peters of Schleswig, Ina Mae and her husband, Wayne Bliesmann of Charter Oak, Leila and her husband, Verle Neumann of San Jose, Calif.; ten grandchildren: Melvin and Markie Lill, Melanie Mogensen, Steve, Craig and Kandis Peters, Christine and Michael Bliesmann, and Tami and Shawn Neumann; and two great grandchildren, Darcey and Kasey Mogensen.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, at St John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, with the Rev. L.C. Gebhardt officiating the service and the grave side rites, with burial in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Mrs. L.C. Gebhardt served as organist for the St. John's Ladies Choir singing: "How Great Thou Art," and "Nearer My God To Thee" and the congregation singing "Lift High The Cross." Serving as pallbearers were: Steven Peters, Melvin Lill, Craig Peters, Shawn Neumann, Jerry Bahnsen and Kenneth Nemitz. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Charter Oak.

Alvena C (Alff) Quandt (1899 - 1995)
Alvena C. Quandt was born May 2, 1899, the daughter of William and Christina Bumann Alff. She died on Sunday, June 25, 1995 at the Dunlap Care Center in Dunlap, Iowa at the age of ninety-six years.She was born on a farm near Minden, Iowa where she lived with her parents. She was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neola, Iowa on April 5, 1914 by Pastor C. Lilie. Alvena received her education at a rural school near her home.
Alvena was employed as a housekeeper for the William McHenry family before being united in marriage on February 14, 1923 to William Quandt at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Denison, Iowa by Pastor William Frese. The couple settled on a farm near Charter Oak and were blessed with the birth of three daughters. In 1929 the couple moved to a home in Paradise Township, where Alvena resided until her death.
Alvena was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She enjoyed baking and cooking, socializing with friends in a game of cards and word games. She enjoyed good health, until most recently in February.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on November 9, 1963; two brothers, Julius Alff and Ted Alff, two sisters, Helen in infancy and Nettie Lewis; three sons-in-law, Elmer Spreng, Alvin Woebke and Raymond Evers.
Survivors include: three daughters, VaNetta Spreng; Bernice Woebke, both of Arion; DeLoris Evers of Dakota City, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Max Alff and his wife, Laura of Camarillo, California; William Alff and his wife, Maxine of East Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Augusta Groom of Fallbrook, California and Josephine Winford of Westminster, California; also many nieces and nephews.

Alvera Frieda (Quade) Reincke (1918 - 1990)
Alvera Frieda Reincke, the daughter of Edward and Martha Erichsen Quade, was born March 8, 1918 at Comfrey, Minnesota and died April 7, 1990 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison at the age of 72 years.At four years of age, Alvera moved with her parents to Iowa and settled in the rural Schleswig area where Alvera received her education in a rural school. After completing her education, Alvera assisted in homes as needed.
Alvera and Clarence Reincke of Schleswig were united in marriage February 20, 1946 in Schleswig, and their union together was blessed with one daughter, Jolene.
They maintained their home on a farm near Schleswig, farming the ground until retiring in 1974 but continuing to live on the farm together until Clarence's death in 1979.
She was member of the Ladies Tuesday Bowling League of Schleswig and helped her family by working in the Whiteing Greenhouse in Schleswig. Alvera was Baptized a Christian as a child, and later Confirmed in the Evangelical Friedens Church in Schleswig. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Ladies Guild.
Preceding her in death were: her parents; her husband Clarence; and one brother Lester. Her survivors include her daughter, Jolene and her husband James Whiteing of Schleswig and three granddaughters, Renae, Cynthia and Katie Whiteing, all at home.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 1990 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Harold E. Schaible officiated at the services with interment in the Morgan Cemetery near Schleswig. Mrs. Evelyn Johnson was organist and Mrs. Barbara Buffum was soloist. Solo selections were: "How Great Thou Art" and "Beyond The Sunset". Serving as pallbearers were: Wayne Bliesmann, George Lansink, Wayne Miller, Virtus Hollander, Herbert Riessen and Gary Schultz. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter A. Huebner and Sons' Funeral Service of Schleswig.

Alvin E. Dixon (1911 - 1998)
Alvin E. Dixon was born at Charter Oak, Iowa, June 6, 1911, the son of Herbert and Martha Henderson Dixon. He was raised in Crawford County and received his education in the country schools. He was received into God's Kingdom of Grace through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism December 25, 1937 and confirmed in his Christian faith on the same date at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.On June 2, 1940, Alvin was united in marriage with Ethel Christiansen at her parents' home in Goodrich Township. Their union was blessed with one son, Wayne. Together they farmed in Crawford County until moving to Denison in 1963 where Alvin was employed in maintenance at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital until his retirement.
Ethel died August 3, 1990 and Alvin continued to reside at his home in Denison where he enjoyed socializing with friends and family.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Zion Voters Assembly, Zion Mens Club and Zion Fellowship Club. In addition to his church he enjoyed his membership in the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Denison.
Alvin died Sunday evening, November 15, 1998 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. At the time of his death he had attained the age of 87 years, 5 months and 9 days.
Including his parents and his wife, Alvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Alonzo and Vernon Dixon and two sisters, Garnet Crawford and Minnie Pautsch.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Vicki Dixon of Carrollton, Texas, three grandsons, Wayne Dixon, Jr. and wife, Nancy of Dallas, Texas, Curtis Simpson and wife, Tammy of McAlester, Oklahoma and Todd Simpson of Carrollton, Texas, two great grandchildren, Zathan and Halee Simpson of McAlester, Oklahoma, his close friend, Helen Jepsen of Denison, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl and Esther Christiansen and Evelyn Staller of Denison and Vi Staller of Vista, California, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 18, 1998 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa with the Rev. Kurt R. Kaiser and the Rev. Daniel G. Gifford officiating. Music for the service included three congregational hymns, "Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me", "I'm But A Stranger Here" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" with Karen Kahl serving as organist. Honorary bearers were the Golden K Kiwanis Club and their spouses in attendance. Casket bearers included Wayne Dixon, Jr., Curtis Simpson, Todd Simpson, Ronald Klink, Paul Thomsen, Jr. and Donald Beam. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery in Denison, Iowa. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Amanda (Kahl) LaFrentz (1893 - 1973)
Mrs. Henry LaFrentz, 80, of Holstein, died Nov. 21 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 24 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Rev. Roger Petersen officiated. Burial was in the Holstein Cemetery, with Hansen-Barker Funeral Home in charge.Mrs. LaFrentz, the former Amanda Kahl, was born on March 1, 1893 in Crawford County. She was married Feb. 23, 1912. They farmed near Ida Grove. In 1918 they moved to a farm near Holstein. Mr. LaFrentz died in 1957. In 1960 Mrs. LaFrentz moved to Holstein.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. LaVerna Ludvigson of Washta; two sons, Harvey of Mapleton, and Roy of Quimby; four brothers, John of Mapleton, Herbert of Ricketts, William of Arion, and Marvin of Charter Oak; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Amelia Dora (Jeschke) Godberson (1912 - 2000)
Amelia Dora Godberson was born December 8, 1912, the daughter of Fred and Emilie Jahn Jeschke. She died at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at the age of eighty-seven.Amelia was born in Hanover Township, near Ricketts, Iowa. She was baptized in Christ on January 12, 1913 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hanover Township and later confirmed on April 10, 1927 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. William Frese. Amelia received her education at the Zion Lutheran School in Denison.
On December 3, 1929, Amelia was united in marriage to Morris Godberson in Audubon, Iowa. She was a home maker and worked as a waitress. Amelia was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spent her leisure time reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morris, one stillborn son, Morris Junior and three brothers.
Survivors include one son, Harley Godberson and his fiancée, Joyce Abel of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Philip Godberson and his wife, Susie; Joseph Godberson and his wife, Mary; and Julie Godberson; six great-grandchildren, Jordan Godberson; Taylor Godberson; Paul Godberson; Elizabeth Miller; Nicole Miller and Owen Godberson; two brothers, Carl Jeschke and his wife, Frieda of Denison; Herman Jeschke of Vail; three sisters-in-law, Mabel Jeschke of Manilla; Frieda Jeschke and Ella Jeschke, both of Denison; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2000 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiated the service and grave side rites held at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Hanover Township in Charter Oak. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Henry Henningsen as he sang "How Great Thou Art" and for congregational hymns "Nearer, My God, to Thee", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives. Those serving as pallbearers were: Freddie Friedrichsen, George Luetjens, Marlin Aschinger, Stanley Kracht, Kenneth Paup and Ernie Riessen. The family invited everyone in attendance to join them in fellowship and lunch served by the Dorcas Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of the arrangements.

Anna Christina (Mumm) Jensen (1910 - 1995)
Anna Christina Jensen was born August 19, 1910, the daughter of Jacob and Christina Henricksen Mumm. She died at the Sunrise County Manor in Milford, Nebraska on Tuesday, September 12, 1995 at the age of eighty-five years.Anna grew up on a farm in Goodrich Township and received her education in a rural school near her home. After completing her education, she worked as a house keeper for families as needed, and was also employed by the Denison Hotel.
On February 11, 1930, Anna was united in marriage to Harold Jensen at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple settled in Denison and were blessed with the birth of two children.
In 1965, the family moved to Hanley Falls, Minnesota where they remained for ten years before returning to Denison in 1975.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Peter and William; and four sisters, Louise Segebart, Elizabeth Comstock, Inag Mumm and Hellen Schrock and her husband, Harold in 1990.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Berkey of San Bernardino, California and one son Gordon and his wife, Joyce of Lincoln, Nebraska. Also ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, five brothers, Henry and his wife, JoAnn and Carl and his wife, Grace all of Portland, Oregon; Jake and his wife, Thelma of Sacramento, California; Claus of Fresno, California; John Segebart and his wife, Margaret of Ida Grove, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Irene Mumm of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Lynda Petersen of Denison.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 1995 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa with Rev. Kurt Kaiser officiating the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Anna Dorothea (Sievers) Glau (1894 - 2000)
Anna Dorothea Glau was born September 25, 1894, the daughter of Herman and Johanna (Linde) Sievers. She passed into eternal life on September 10, 2000 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of one hundred five and eleven months, from complications after sustaining right hip fracture.Anna was born near Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She came to America in 1902, at the age of eight with her parents and siblings. She, with her family settled on a farm near Manning, Iowa, later moving near Denison, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to William Glau, on May 6, 1914 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Denison until their retirement in 1952 when they moved into the city. They were blessed with the birth of two sons and two daughters.
After her husband's death in 1955, Anna lived independently until 1992, when she sustained a left hip fracture at the age of ninety-eight. She then made the move to Mountain Home, Arkansas to live with her daughter Loretta Schroder. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a remarkable lady with a good attitude toward life, always caring about others welfare. Through the years she enjoyed sending cards and writing letters, keeping up corresponding with relatives and friends. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, everything to perfection.
She is survived by two daughters, Edna Honeman of Van Nuys, California and Loretta Schroder of Mountain Home, Arkansas. A brother Herbert Sievers of Omaha, Nebraska. Seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, one brother, five sisters, two grandsons and one granddaughter.
Anna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Pastor Kurt Kaiser and Pastor Sewing officiated at the graveside memorial service at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Anna Dorothea (Evers) Holst (1887 - 1966)
Funeral services for Mrs Anna Dorothea Holst who died at Claudia's Nursing home in Denison after a lengthy illness, were held Thursday, January 27 at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Rev. R. J. Ratzlaff officiated. Mrs John Evers, organist accompanied Mrs Harlan Buffum and Mrs Donald Meyer who sang "Abide With Me" and "How Great Thou Art."Anna Holst was born on May 29, 1887 in Lost Nation, Iowa. She moved in 1893 with her parents on a farm at Baldwin in Jackson county and was confirmed at Smithtown, Clinton county.
She was united in marriage to Johannes Holst on February 15, 1905 at Schleswig. They resided on a farm two miles north of Schleswig. A son, John, was born to the couple. Mrs Holst was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and also a member of the Women's Guild. She attained to the age of 78 years 7 months and 25 days.
She is survived by her son, John Holst of Schleswig.
Her husband preceded her in death January 24, 1954. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs Peter Hamann, two brothers, Otto Evers and Will Evers.
Pallbearers were Clarence Reincke, Orlan Abbe, Herbert Reissen, Johannas Breckling, Edwin Schmadeke and Art Korner.
Interment was made in Morgan cemetery.

Anna K. (Segebart) Poleske (1897 - 1989)
Anna K. Poleske was born in Crawford County, Iowa, September 29, 1897, the daughter of Ernest and Augusta Krauel Segebart. She was raised in Crawford County and received her education in the rural schools. Following her education and prior to her marriage, she was employed doing domestic work for others.On March 9, 1927, Anna was united in marriage with Sears Poleske at Carroll. This union was blessed with three children, Ruth, Anita and Lee.
They made their home in Manilla and Anna was employed for a time with Longnecker's Produce. In 1949 they moved to Westside where Sears died in May of 1967. Anna continued to reside in Westside where she did babysitting for many area families through the years. In her spare time she enjoyed her plants, gardening, collecting dolls and crocheting and quilting.
In July of 1988, Anna moved to the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison and it was there her death occurred early Monday, January 9, 1989. At the time of her passing she had reached the age of 91 years, 3 months and 10 days. She was a member of the United Church in Westside.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and six sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ruth and husband Robert Rosburg of Altoona, Iowa; Anita Hammer of Denison and Lee Poleske of Seward, Alaska; two granddaughters, Becky and Barbi Hammer of Ralston, Nebraska; one brother, Herman Segebart and his wife Dorothy of Coronado, Calif. and two sisters, Frieda Natzel and Ella Ladehoff, both of Manilla. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 1989 at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison with the Rev. Steven Myren officiating. Music for the services was provided by Karen Kahl serving as organist. Casketbearers included Verlin Koch, Bob Gress, Ralph Huisman, Jr., Steve Mumm, Harold Schroeder and Duane Wegner. Interment was in the Westside Cemetery at Westside, Iowa. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.

Anna Marie (Poleske) Beermann (1902 - 1992)
Anna Marie Beermann was born on Jan. 4, 1902, the daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Lueck Poleske. She died at the St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., on Thursday, May 28, 1992 at the age of 90 years.Anna was born in Washington Township, Crawford County, Iowa and was baptized a Christian on Jan. 19, 1902 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 1, 1917 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. As a young girl, Anna began her formal education in a rural school near her home and continued her education in the community school and the Zion Lutheran School in Denison. She subsequently continued her education in the normal college in Denison.
After completing her education, Anna taught in a rural school until her marriage to Henry C. Beermann on Feb. 27, 1924 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by the Reverend William Frese. The couple settled on a farm south of Denison and were blessed with the birth of one son.
On Oct. 6, 1934, Henry died and Anna remained on the farm where she continued farming until 1958 when she moved to Denison. While in Denison, she was employed in various occupations in addition to her employment as a nurses helper at Eventide, where she worked for four years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and the Ladies Aid from 1936 to the time of her death.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Ida Witt.
She is survived by her son, Glen and his wife, Ruby Ann of Denison; one niece, Marilyn Obmann and her husband, Fred of Breda; one great-niece, Lynette Obmann and one great-nephew, Dennis Obmann and his wife, Cindy.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, with Reverend Kurt Kaiser and Reverend Philip E. Bloch officiating the service and graveside rites held at the Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Karen Kahl provided the organ accompaniment for soloist Henry Henningsen singing "Nearer My God to Thee" and "How Great Thou Art." The congregational hymn was "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." Pallbearers were James D. Christiansen, Kenneth Lueck, Byron Meeves, Vernon Lueck, Blake Deiber and Gary Justice. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter A. Anna (Meents) Petersen (1914 - 1990)
Anna Meents Petersen, was born April 20, 1914 near Graettinger, Iowa and died of cancer on Oct. 5, 1990 at the home of her daughter, Delores, Mrs. Ken Ries, at Ames, Iowa at the age of 76 years. She was baptized in 1914 at Emmetsburg, Iowa, and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith, Jan. 13, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.Anna attended school through the eighth grade and on Feb. 10, 1932 was united in marriage to Edward Petersen in Denison. They were lifelong Crawford County farmers, making their home on a farm near Vail since 1940. Edward died in 1981 and Anna continued to live on the farm until going to the home of her daughter in Ames.
Anna was an Avon representative for 33 years and belonged to the Avon Presidents Club for 15 years, a club that honors outstanding representatives. She was a very gracious lady and was always there when needed by her family and friends. As a person caring for others, she requested that her eyes be donated to the medical field so that others may benefit. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Anna was the daughter of John and Anna Storm Meents Sr. who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward; three brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include her children: Delano Petersen of Vail and Delores and her husband, Ken Ries of Ames; four grandsons: Ronald, Edward and John of Ames and Thomas of Kansas City; two granddaughters, Deanna, Mrs. George Suckow of Ames and Debra Ries of Evansdale, Iowa; two great grandsons, Mathew and Geoffrey Suckow of Ames and a great granddaughter, Charity Sue Ries of Ames; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Paulson of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Frieda Bartholomew and her husband, Reynold of Denison; one niece and three nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Pastor Kurt Kaiser and Pastor Philip Bloch officiated at the services with interment in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Mrs. Karen Kahl was organist and Henry Henningsen, soloist. Solo selections were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer, My God To Thee." The congregational hymn was "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Honorary pallbearers were Robert H. Dieter, Oscar Christensen, Raymond Kral and Robert Hawley.

Anna Marie (Greder) Pokorny (1905 - 1991)
Anna Marie Greder Pokorny was born Jan. 6, 1905 in Buck Grove to Peter and Salome Deiber Greder. Anna passed away Dec. 18, 1991 at the Brown County Hospital in Ainsworth at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 12 days.At the age of 18, Anna moved with her family to Brown County, Neb., where she was united in marriage to Fred Pokorny on Dec. 5, 1928 at Winner, S.D. To this union one daughter, Shirley was born.
Anna and Fred lived and farmed in the Keya Paha and Brown Counties all of their married life until retiring and moving to Ainsworth in November of 1965. Anna was a member of the Ainsworth Congregational United Church of Christ and a 47-year member of the Rebekah's. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; three sisters, Edna, Selma and Clara; three brothers, Art, Fred and Peter and a grandson, Dennis Jensen.
Survivors include: daughter Shirley and husband, Marvin Jensen of Denison; one granddaughter, Glenda and husband, Jack Kilker; one great-granddaughter, Christina and one great-grandson, Scott Kilker, all of Sioux City; two sisters, Helen Mitchell of Dow City and Mildre Leitz of Spencer, and four brothers, Walter of Florida, Dave of Johnstown, Kenneth of North Platte and Paul of Clovis, Calif.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 1991 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Ainsworth. Rev. Stanley Crawford officiated the services. Music was furnished by Leila Crawford and Dottie Arent. Pallbearers were Arnie Peterson, Vernon Greder, Royce Greder, Gary Greder, Bryce Mitchell and Sylvester Greder. Memorials were made to the Ainsworth Public Library or the Brown County Hospital. Arrangements were under the direction of the Hoch Funeral home of Ainsworth.

Anna (Brummer) Quandt (1895 - 1980)
Funeral services were held February 9, 1980, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak for Anna Quandt, 85, with Rev. Eugene Walding officiating at the mass.Pallbearers included six grandsons David Quandt, Kevin Quandt, Eugene Quandt, Roger Jenkins, Jene Quandt and Daniel Quandt. Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Charter Oak.
Jim Murphy and Douglas Hansman, great-grandsons served at the funeral mass with Terry Kluver, grandson, serving as cross bearer. Jeffrey Kluver, grandson, lectured for the mass with Lisa Kluver, the 55th grandchild, presented a reading. Pat Reed was organist with Nancy Kluver, granddaughters, as gift carriers.
Mrs. Anna Quandt, the former Anna Brummer, was born December 15, 1895, in Neola, Iowa. She was reared near Charter Oak and received her education in the rural schools.
She was united in marriage to Charles Quandt January 12, 1916, in Charter Oak. The couple lived on a farm near Mapleton until 1921 when they moved to a farm east of Charter Oak where they resided for 21 years and then moved to a farm south of Charter Oak. In 1953, they retired and moved to Charter Oak. Mrs. Quandt was an active member of the St. Boniface Altar Society. She passed away February 6, 1980, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll after a six-month illness.
Survivors include her husband Charles of Charter Oak; six sons, Paul, Harold, Norman and Donald all of Carroll, Robert of Council Bluffs and James of Westside; three daughters Mrs. Raymond (Marcella) Kluver of Charter Oak, Mrs. Romanan (Evelyn) Jenkins of Kiron and Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Kluver of Carroll; two brothers Pete of Missouri Valley and Vince of Denison; three sisters, Mrs. Tom (Agnes) Glancy of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Jerry (Adelaide) Morrissey of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Mary Bickett of Sioux City; 55 grandchildren and 86 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Marjorie, one son Francis, one son-in-law Raymond, two granddaughters, five brothers and three sisters.

Anna Sophia (Popken) Rath (1903 - 1999)
Anna Sophia Rath was born July 4, 1903, the daughter of Herman and Ernestine Lutz Popken. She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa on Sunday, February 7, 1999 at the age of ninety-five.Anna was born in Goodrich Township and was baptized in Christ in November 1903 and later confirmed there in April 1917 at Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa by Rev. William Frese. She received her education in a rural school, near her home and the Zion Lutheran School.
After receiving her education, Anna worked for the Balle Brodersen family in Denison until her marriage to Harry Rath on March 15, 1922. The couple settled on a farm north of Buck Grove for five years and then purchased a farm south of Denison, where they lived for fifty-five years.
Anna and Harry celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 1982. Harry passed away October 19, 1982, and Anna continued to live on the farm until 1989, when she moved to Denison.
Anna was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church and their Ladies Aid since 1940. She was also a member of the neighborhood Cheerful Group Club. She enjoyed cooking, needle work and flowers. In her leisure time, Anna enjoyed socializing in a game of cards, traveling and fishing with a cane pole at Blue Lake near Onawa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Robert in infancy, two brothers, Art and Louie Popken, three sisters, Emma Haase, Erna Ruberg and Elsie Thomsen.
Survivors include, one daughter, Ruby Rolfsmeier of Seward, Nebraska; one son Leslie Rath and his wife, Marguerite of Denison; two grandchildren, Randy Rath and his wife, Cheryl of Denison; Rhonda Sievertsen and her husband, Jeff of Manilla; three step-grandchildren, Betty Aegerter; Don Rolfsmeier, both of Seward, Nebraska; Beverly Harvey of Grand Island, Nebraska; four great-grandchildren, Kolby and Kiley Rath and Lukas and Lynsie Sievertsen; also nine step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 11, 1999 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa. Rev. Kurt Kaiser and Rev. Daniel Gifford officiated the service and grave side rites held at the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison. Marlene Hight provided the organ accompaniment for soloist, Larry Boeck singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" and congregational hymn "Just as I Am, Without One Plea". Pallbearers were: Vernon Neumann, Keith Jensen, Vernon Haase, Kolby Rath, Virgil Boeck and Joe Griffin. The family invited everyone in attendance at the service to join them in fellowship and lunch at the church, served by the Ladies Aid. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
