Immigrant Places Overseas
We thought we need a place for visitors to research their ancestral homeland. Many overseas locations have data available for anyone free of charge. Below are a few of the links we found.

Association Many of our German ancestors may have actually came from the
Gottschee settlement, now known as Slovenia. My ancestors were
commonly known as Germans from Austria who spoke a different dialect of German
which some had never heard, according to my grandma. After further research,
this is actually the area they came from. Clinton County had a considerable
Gottschee immigrant settlement. Lorraine Houghton and Marilu Thurman did wonderful research and contributed it
to our site. Since many Clinton County ancestors came from Gottschee, we've made
a new area just for that information.

"The emigration researcher, Dr. Gerd Hagenah of Bad Segeberg, has determined
that more emigrants from the province of Schleswig came to Clinton County Iowa
than anywhere else in the world." - Michael Kearney
