Herbert E. Pingel

Herbert E. Pingel, 72-year old retired Longmont farmer, died at his home, 31 Harrison avenue, at 3 p.m. Tuesday. 

Mr. Pingel was born on a farm near Wheatland, Iowa, September 26, 1881. 

He was reared in that same section, and married Mabel L. Mowry at Tipton,  Iowa, May 24, 1905.  They came to Longmont in 1916 from Wheatland. 

A member of the United Brethren church in this city, Mr. Pingel had traveled between Longmont and Iowa many times, looking after interests in both sections, but making his home continuously in Longmont for the past 10 years.  

Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Pingel of Longmont;  four sons,  Leroy and Ralph of Bay City, Oregon;  Dale M., Salem, Oregon; and Glen Pingel of Aurora, Colorado;  one daughter, Mrs. John (Laveria) Fishburn, Fort Lupton;  one brother, Otto Pingel, Wheatland, Iowa;  one sister, Dora Wischmann, Litchfield, Minnesota;  18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the United Brethren church, Rev. O.S. Barnhart officiating.  Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery.  

Mabel L. Pingel

Mrs. Mabel L. Pingel, who resided at 1400 Coffman St., died Monday, July 24, at Longmont United Hospital after a short illness.  She was 84. 

Born in Toronto, Iowa, August 17, 1887, Mrs. Pingel came to Colorado in 1916.  She resided in Oregon for a time, before moving back to Iowa.  Mrs. Pingel came to Longmont in 1949.  

Mrs. Pingel was married to Herbert L. Pingel, May 24, 1904, in Iowa.  Mr. Pingel died in 1953.  Mrs. Pingel was a member of the Longs Peak United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include four sons, Glenn of Longmont, Ray of Bay City, Ore.,  Ralph of Carlton, Ore., and Dale of Salem, Ore.;  a daughter, Mrs. John (Leveria) Fishburn of Fort Lupton;  two brothers, Frank Mowry of Salem, and Ray Mowry of Tacoma, Wash.;  two sisters, Miss Carrie Mowry of Salem, and Mrs. Claude Mitchell of North Bend, Ore.  Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m., in the Ahlberg  Funeral Chapel.  Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Earl Glen Pingel

Earl Glen Pingel of Lilly, Pa., formerly of Longmont, Colorado, died Friday,  May 23, 1997, at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona, Pa.  He was 79.He was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Longmont to Herbert E. Pingel and Mabel (Mowry) Pingel.  Mr. Pingel was self-employed as a master plumber.  He was a World War II army veteran, serving in the Pacific theater.  He was a member of the Williamsburg post of the American Legion and former member of the VFW, Elks and Moose lodges in Longmont.  He was an avid camper, fisherman and traveler.  

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Roy and Dale; and an  infant brother.  Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Hazel Pingel; one daughter, Barbara Jean Lysic and her husband, John, of Lilly, Pa.; one son, Richard Pingel of Hillsboro, Ore.; one sister, Lavernia Fishburn of Grand Junction; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at the Mark A.  Serenko Funeral Home in Portage, Pa.  Funeral services will be held there on Monday, May 26, at 1 p.m.  A military funeral rite will be provided by the Portage Veterans  Organizations.  The Rev. Hazel A. Pingel

                        Sept. 16, 1922 - April 29, 1998 

Former Longmont resident Hazel A. Pingel of Lilly, Pa., died Wednesday,  April 29, 1998, in Laurel Crest Manor.  She was 75.  Mrs. Pingel lived most of her life in the Longmont area but also resided in California and Oregon. 

She attended school in the Fort Lupton and Longmont areas.  She was born  Sept. 16, 1922, in Foster, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Nona Bright Dean.  Mrs. Pingel was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion since the early 1950s and of Post No. 456, Williamsburg American Legion. 

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Jean "B.J." Lysic and her husband,  John, of Lilly; one son, Richard Dean Pingel of Hillsboro, Ore.; six grandchildren, Susan Lynne (Lysic) Rosenbaum of Pottstown, Pa., John Patrick Lysic and Michael Lysic, both of Pasadena, Md., Jonna Jeanne (Lysic) Nesbella of Birdsboro, Pa., Amy Ann Pingel of Dallas, Tx., and Michael Dean Pingel of Hillsboro, Ore.; and 14 great grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Glen Pingel; and two  brothers, Robert Dean and Thomas Harris, Jr. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Saturday, May 2, at the  Mark A. Serenko Funeral Home in Portage, Pa., with the Rev. Marvin E. Lowery officiating.  Burial will be in Colorado.  The family received friends Friday.
