Obituary of Franz Joseph Willihnganz:
“Franz Joseph Willihnganz, who departed this life at Mercy hospital, Sunday, Jan. 30, 1921, was born in Mellerichstadt, Bavaria, in (Aug. 19) 1849, where he was united in marriage to Miss Barbara Hauber in the year 1871.
Mr. Willihnganz, with his family, came to America and direct to Lyons, Ia., in 1883, where he had continuously resided up to the time of his death.
He leaves to mourn, besides the partner of his joys and sorrows, nine children and eighteen grandchildren.
Mr. Willihnganz was a man of kindly nature-one who met the trials of life with a smile. In later years, when physical disability and the infirmities of age crept upon him, he suffered much-yet met it all philosophically, and greeted his friends as pleasantly as ever.
In the passing of Mr. Whillihnganz not only do wife and children mourn the loss of a loving husband and a kind and indulgent father, but his friends, who were numbered by his acquaintances, will miss that cheerful greeting with which this good and upright citizen was wont to meet them.
Interment was in St. Boniface cemetery, following services at St.
Boniface church, of which deceased had been a faithful member since coming to
Lyons”

“Frank Joseph Willihnganz passed away last evening at 11:50 o'clock at Mercy hospital after being ill for some time, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 11 days.
The deceased came to this country about 39 years ago and since that time has made his home here in Lyons, residing at 503 South Tenth street.
Mr. Willihnganz leaves to mourn his loss his wife, seven daughters and two sons, Paul of Elmhurst, Ill.; Frank, Jr., of Lyons; Mrs. Will Haun, Clinton; Mrs. A. O. Wheeler, of Bettendorf, Iowa; Mrs. John Murphy, Mrs. O. Krebs, Mrs. Ralph Thomas, Mrs. Ben Dettermann, of Lyons, and one daughter, Kathryn, at home. He also leaves one brother, K. Willihnganz, of Keil, Wisconsin, and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at St. Boniface church at 9:00 o'clock with Rev. Tritz officiating, with burial in St. Boniface cemetery.”
Frank Willihnganz obituary
“Frank V. Willihnganz, 60, of 1502 North Second street, died at 12:30 o’clock this morning (January 18, 1941) in the State University hospital, Iowa City, where he had been a patient for two months.
The body will repose in the home, beginning Sunday noon.
The Rev. Henry Sendbuehler will conduct funeral services at 9 a. m. Tuesday in St. Boniface church. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
Mr. Willihnganz was born Jan. 10, 1881, in Germany, the son of Franz and Barbara (Hauber) Willihnganz. When a year and a half old, he came with his parents from Germany to Clinton. He and Miss. Ella Minnie Outzen were married Sept. 10, 1902. He was an employee for 37 years in the Curtis Companies, Inc., plant. Mr. Willihnganz was a member of St. Boniface church.
Surviving are the widow, three children, Vincent Willihnganz of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. John Ocken of Sterling, Ill., and Miss Marian Willihnganz (my mother) of the home; six sisters, Miss. Katherine Willihnganz, Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy, Mrs. Oscar Krebs, Mrs. Ralph Detterman, all of Clinton, and Mrs. A. O. Wheeler of East Chicago, Ind., and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were an infant daughter, Pauline, his parents; a sister, Mrs. W. Haun, and a brother Paul.”
