Lewis Litchfield came home Saturday evening, having completed a three years service in the regular army. He has been with a cavalry regiment in Oklahoma and Indian Territory, and looks as if service with Uncle Sam's boys is his natural element.

Sam Stillions took a discharge from the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown and will visit friends this summer. Sam was with Geo. Oathout in 1st Iowa Cavalry for four years and is now stopping with him, but will go to Waukon this week. Sam is a member of Harvey Dix G.A.R at McGregor.

1943

From Guttenberg, Ia. comes news of Owen Nading of Guttenberg who received his orders to report for active duty and left Dubuque Monday for San Antonio, Texas, where he will receive training as an aviation cadet. He received his pilot’s license here in Dubuque and enlisted in the Army Air Forces last July.

1959

McGregor -- Pvt. William Pilkington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Pilkington of McGregor, has arrived with his army unit in Korea.
McGregor -- Army Pfc. James R. Kluesner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril J. Kluesner of McGregor, has qualified as an expert in firing the automatic rifle. Private Kluesner is a machine gunner in Company A of 24th Division, 34th Infantry, serving in Germany. A graduate of Monona-Farmersburg High School, he entered the army last March.

Marquette -- Sp. 4 Charles DuCahrme, who recently visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving DuCahrme of Marquette, has returned to Ft. Riley, Kansas, where he is stationed.
