Warrant No. 466 for 160 acres, issued in favor of Adam Larrabee, Captain, United States Light Artillery, Colonel Porter's Regiment War of 1812.
West half of the North West quarter of Section nine and the East half of the North East quarter of Section eight in Township ninety five North, of Range six West, in the District of Lands subject to sale at Dubuque Iowa, containing one hundred and sixty acres.

Adam Larrabee, father of the Honorable William Larrabee 13th governor of Iowa from 1886-1890, was born March 14, 1787. Adam Larrabee was a graduate of the West Point Military Academy, having been appointed cadet by President Jefferson in 1808. He graduated third in hs class on March 1, 1811. He served his country during the War of 1812, holding the position of Second Lieutenant, to which he was commissioned March 1, 1811. He was promoted Captain of his company February 1, 1814, and on the 30th of the following March, at the battle of Lacole Mills, during Gen. Wilkinson's campaign on the Saint Lawrence River, he was severely wounded in the lung. He eventually recovered from the injury. Adam Larrabee was married to Hannah G. Lester (1798-1837). Capt. Larrabee died at Windham, Connecticut, October 25, 1869, at the age of eighty-two years.
William Larrabee, born January 20, 1832 in Ledyard, Connecticut, removed to Clayton co. Iowa in 1853. The plat 1866 plat map of Grand Meadow twp. shows William and his younger brother Frank, as owners of the land in sections 8 & 9 that their father, Adam had (likely) received as bounty for his service in the War of 1812.
