In the District Court the verdict in the Lighty case was for an assault, and the defendant was fined $100. and cost of the suit. The court adjourned this noon.

Sheriff Benton left Monday taking the following prisoners to Anamosa:
Jas. O. West, sentenced to 7 years for incest and 3 years for adultery.
Err Ellsworth, 2 years and three months for adultery.
Mrs. Lizzie Adams, 9 months for adultery.

John Erwin got on a drunk Thursday evening and run up against the town authorities. John was very abusive and insulting. He was brought before Mayor Kriebs Friday morning. Thirty days in jail was the sentence, and Jack opened up again.

Judge Fellows disposed of the following criminal causes:
State vs. Alfred Kellogg, jury returned a verdict of guilty of assault.
State vs. Wm. Bresee, on trial for perjury, and found guilty.
State vs. Austin McAfee, indicted for grand larceny and found guilty.
State vs. Phil. McGuire, found guilty of assault.

Last Saturday Judge Fellows passed sentences as follows:
Alfred Kellogg, convicted of an assault with intent to do great bodily injury, committed to jail for five months and to pay costs of trial.
Wm. Bresee, convicted of perjury, sent to Anamosa for six years.
Martin Mueller, for forgery, four years at Anamosa.
James Ryan, for larceny, Eleven months in jail.
John Williams, for larceny, eleven months in jail.
