John H. Zearley
Mallory Twp.

John H. Zearley, one of the representative farmers of Mallory Township, was born in 1828, in Pennsylvania. His father, John Zearley, Sr. was likewise a native of the Keystone State, where he died; his mother Ann Zearley, nee Hixon, was born in Virginia.

He received his education in his native State and in 1851 emigrated to Clayton County, settling upon a farm. He now owns a
finely cultivated farm of 40 acres in sectin 5, Mallory Township.

He was married in 1854 to Mary Hansel. Their union has been blessed with six children-- Ida Ann, Sarah Adelia, John Jacob, William H., Louis A. and Hattie.

Mr. Zearley has served as Deputy County Surveyor, and has held many of the township offices, having always been an able and efficient officer. In politics he is independent.
